Platte County Fair season is almost here!

As our members prepare exhibits, projects, and displays for this year's fair, we're looking back at some favorite 4-H fair memories.

The Platte County Fair is more than ribbons and exhibits—it's an opportunity for youth to build leadership, responsibility, communication, entrepreneurship, and community service skills while creating lasting memories along the way.

We can't wait to see the hard work and accomplishments of our 4-H members on display this year. Good luck to everyone as they put the finishing touches on their projects!

🌱 Thank You, Tractor Supply in Kearney! 🌱

A special thank you to Tractor Supply in Kearney for helping support Platte County 4-H Homegrown Minds through a donation of seeds for our youth gardening projects.

Because of community partners like Tractor Supply, our youth have the opportunity to learn about gardening, food production, environmental stewardship, leadership, responsibility, and community service through hands-on experiences.

We appreciate your support in helping young people grow their skills, confidence, and knowledge while giving back to the community.

🐥📚 Learning Through Literacy!

Platte County 4-H recently hosted a chick-themed read-aloud at Mid-Continent Public Library. Youth explored themes of growth, courage, responsibility, and caring for animals through stories and discussion.

Programs like these help connect literacy, agriculture, and hands-on learning while encouraging curiosity and a love of reading.

Thank you to Mid-Continent Public Library for providing a space for youth learning and community engagement.

🌱 Garden Update from Mimi's Pantry!

The 4-H Homegrown Minds Club has been busy caring for six raised garden beds at Mimi's Pantry. Throughout the season, youth have been developing gardening skills while learning about food production, environmental stewardship, healthy living, leadership, responsibility, teamwork, and community service.

From tomatoes and peppers to herbs and other vegetables, these gardens provide hands-on learning opportunities while helping support local food access efforts in our community.

We look forward to watching the gardens continue to grow and sharing more updates throughout the summer!

We will also be hosting community gardening and educational events throughout the season. If you'd like to learn more, get involved, or volunteer, stay tuned for upcoming opportunities!

🍀 Platte County 4-H has been busy in the community! 🍀

Platte County 4-H recently participated in a local homeschool event. Members of the University of Missouri Extension Urban West Region 4-H team, including Dylan Newman, Shianna Burgett, Justin Strickland, and Emily Wills, enjoyed sharing information about 4-H programs and connecting with area families.

We are grateful for the opportunity to introduce more youth and families to everything 4-H has to offer. Thank you to everyone who continues to support our efforts and help us grow!

We have a lot of exciting activities, projects, and events planned for this summer, and we look forward to welcoming new faces along the way.

Missouri is hosting the 4-H Shooting Sports Western Heritage Conference & Invitational Shoot in Marshfield, MO from July 27-30, 2026.

Join us for a week of hands-on learning experiences centered around homesteading in the 1860-1900 era. The competition portion will include cowboy action shooting, clothing and persona interviews, and a historical knowledge test.
