ccessful Groundhog Run this past January. This unique event gives athletes the opportunity to participate in the 5K, 10K and Tunnel- to- Tunnel experiences. With a consistent temperature of 65 to 68 degrees and paved underground streets, the Hunt Midwest SubTropolis is the ideal venue for runners from all over the country to compete in this annual winter event. Become one of the thousands of individuals who have become part of Ability KC’s legacy and helped support this event to build brighter futures for children with disabilities. No matter how you choose to support Groundhog Run, this year will be packed with excitement and celebration. Funds are raised through sponsorships, corporate teams and individual runner fees. All proceeds raised by the Groundhog Run support programs and services, directly benefiting more than 300+ children throughout Kansas City. Runner’s World has ranked the Groundhog Run as one of the top 65 races in America. All changes, such as moving races, or changing waves can be made at packet pickup. Simply stop by the information table and we will take care of it for you. As stated in the waiver, if you chose to change from the 5k to 10k the $5.00 race fee difference will be due at this time. There will not be a refund available for changing from the 10k to the 5k. We do not allow runner substitutions. If you are unable to use your entry, you are welcome to attend packet pickup to get your event t-shirt.

Premium 5k or 10k:
A limited quantity of Premium Level entries will be available for both races. Premium entries include runner registration fee for the 5K or 10K, VIP suite access on race day and VIP Parking. The VIP Suite gives guests access to an even better assortment of food and beverages, as well as access to real restrooms….avoid the porta potties! RACE DAY: JANUARY 28, 2024

The race will take place snow or shine as weather does not affect the course. Please use your best judgment and be cautious if driving conditions are poor. Parking
Signs and traffic officers will guide runners from 210 highway to the Ameristar parking lot. From here, a shuttle will provide warm transportation to and from Hunt Midwest SubTropolis. Please arrive early to ensure the best race day experience by considering traffic, weather conditions and shuttle boarding. Shuttle buses will run from 6:00 am – Noon and pick-up/drop-off locations will be marked with yellow Shuttle Stop signs. If you are part of a corporate team and have a VIP Parking Pass, please follow the VIP Parking signs to your reserved lot. The shuttle bus will make a stop for you on its way to the cave. Your bib will coordinate to the wave you selected during packet pickup. We ask that you respect the safety of the other runners by lining up in the correct wave.

Friends and family are welcome to attend. Although, due to the nature of the course, there will be no spectators allowed on the course. There will be room at the finish line for cheering. They are welcome to park in the Ameristar parking lot and utilize the shuttle.
