It’s the longest Eagle Scout Project in history…And it happened right here in Kansas City.

𝗛𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝟭𝟲. 𝗜𝘁 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝟲𝟭.🦅
In 1981, Eagle Scout David Garrett designed a 10-acre neighborhood park for his Eagle Scout project in North Kansas City, Missouri. The city approved his design, honored him with a proclamation and then put the plans on hold for more than four decades.

River Forest Park opened on June 18, 2026, built from Garrett’s original 1981 plans. He was there for the ribbon cutting, 45 years after completing his Eagle project.
