SEASON RECAP BY COACH BRETT:

Coming into the season, this team was made up of players from a wide variety of backgrounds who had not all played together before. However, as the season went on, they became a more cohesive unit both on the field and off the field. We saw our players improve their skills and build friendships with their teammates, both of which were very rewarding. As the coach, I learned early on that cancelling practices for any reason (tornado warnings included) was not taken lightly. These young men love to play, love to challenge themselves, and love to spend time with each other. One of my favorite memories from the season was watching our team spend time with a league opponent after a game had ended. Seeing the diversity of our team and an opportunity to educate his players, the opposing coach asked if we could share our story. Our players went around telling where they grew up and how they came to live in Kansas City. To the other team, a group of young men who grew up in Kansas City, hearing about countries like Kenya, the Congo, Tanzania, Sudan, and many more, was truly astounding. This moment embodied Global FC’s mission, connecting young men from incredibly different backgrounds through the game of soccer.

This season could not have happened without the help of our incredible volunteers. Coaches, drivers, and Global FC directors put countless hours toward helping this season happen, and I hope they realize what their sacrifices meant to our team. Global FC continues to foster a community for young men in the Northeast KC area. A place where people of all backgrounds and journeys can build a network of friends and teammates. All centered around the beautiful game. And to our players, thank you all for your hard work. We hope you had as much fun this season as the coaching staff did. Global FC wishes you all the best of luck as you go into your high school seasons this fall!

CONGRATS GRADUATES: Our mission has always remained the same: to walk alongside our youth and build a community where they can discover and pursue their God-given purpose and potential. This has always been our long-term approach to youth development.

Whether a child entered the Global Futbol Community in elementary school, middle school, or high school, our goal was to equip them with the tools they would need to thrive long after graduation. That toolbox has always included resources, opportunities, and most importantly meaningful relationships.

This is a true full-circle moment for us as we watched young men graduate after spending nearly a decade in our program. Seeing them enter our mission as kids and grow into confident, compassionate young men has been one of our greatest joys and privileges.

None of this would have been possible without our incredible coaches and volunteers. We truly have some of the most dedicated and passionate people in this city, individuals who consistently went above and beyond. They were not just coaches, but mentors, father figures, and role models who poured deeply into the lives of these boys in profound and lasting ways.

THANK YOU to every coach, assistant coach, mentor, and volunteer who gave your time, energy, and genuine care to both these boys and this mission. Your impact reaches far beyond the field.

To our graduating boys: We are so proud of you.
It has been an honor to play even a small role in your remarkable stories. Thank you for trusting us with your journey and blessing our community with your personalities, joy, resilience, and unforgettable moments. There was never a dull moment with you all.

We cherish all the years of memories on and off the field! So many laughs and joyful moments. Yet, we were there for one another as a community in the darkness of times.

Alex Xuan Dinh, 17, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on April 26th, 2026, at University Health Truman Medical Center. Alex was born on May 9th, 2008. He was a legacy student at Della Lamb, now known as Kansas City International Academy. During that time, he played soccer for

There are no words that can carry the weight of this loss. With profoundly heavy hearts, our global futbol community mourns the passing of our beloved youth, Alex Dinh.

What a privilege it was to walk alongside him…. to witness his journey from a joyful little boy into an extraordinary young man. His kindness, his light, his awesome spirit left a mark on all of us. Our sweet boy!

We grieve with his family, holding them close in our prayers. In the face of such heartbreak, there are no words to truly express our loss. And so we place our sorrow, our questions, and our love into the hands of Jesus, trusting Him to hold what we cannot.

Our hearts are shattered by this. I want to thank from the bottom of my heart, every Global fc coach and volunteer who invested in him throughout the years. You changed his life. He loved each of you.
