We are deeply saddened by the passing of Melinda Ryder. For 50 years, Melinda brought joy, laughter and unmistakable glamour to Kansas City while using her platform to support countless organizations and causes. She was a generous friend to KCWC over the years, always ready to share her humor, her warmth and her support.

This photo with Melinda at KC Pride in 2018 captures the joy she brought wherever she went. We are grateful for the many memories we shared with her and for everything she gave to Kansas City’s LGBTQ+ community. We send our love to her husband, Kirk, and to all who knew and loved her.

Kansas City, thank you.

25 years felt like exactly what it should. Full, joyful, and surrounded by people who chose to show up.

To everyone who came, who shared, who sang, who sat in that front row and rose to the stage one more time: this was for you. And because of you.

Our next concert is in the fall.

Stay with us. 💜
