Foster Adopt Connect Kansas

On May 22nd in Parsons, KS and May 29th in Pittsburg, KS, the Pittsburg Prevention Programs and Behavior Intervention staff had the distinct honor of attending a Family First Provider Showcase with the DCF Staff in Southeast Kansas.

We were able to join up to ten other Famliy First Providers in sharing our vision and the work that we do in Southeast Kansas. It was a great opportunity to hear about partner programs and meet staff from other providers doing the excellent work of prevention in the Southeast Region. Meeting the hardworking teams from our partners at DCF and sharing our successes and challenges with them was a bonus!

FosterAdopt Connect has been awarded $10,750 in Kansas Community Service Tax Credits! These tax credits are available for purchase before December 31, 2026 and will support capital improvements at our Hutchinson, Leavenworth, Topeka, and Kansas Resource Centers. This National Foster Care Month, nearly 20,000 youth will age out of foster care without the love and support of a family. Teens in foster care often wait longer to be adopted than younger children, but they never outgrow the need for family. These PSAs showcase real adoptive families, and celebrate how teens and adoptive parents actively choose each other by highlighting the unexpected rewards that come from adopting a teen from foster care.

Our friends over at Joy Meadows have a variety of awesome camp opportunties coming up! Summer camps at Joy Meadows provide children with new, fun experiences in an environment that is predictable, relational, and trauma-informed. Each camp is intentionally designed to support emotional regulation, confidence, and connection—while giving children space to simply be kids.

Children are matched with a trusted adult camp counselor, and a 4:1 child-to-counselor ratio ensures individualized care and meaningful connection. Caregivers receive day respite while knowing their child is safe and supported.
