Today, we celebrate and thank Emma Miller and Dennis Bernardo for their years of dedicated service on Unbound’s Board of Directors. Though their paths to Unbound were different, both have left a lasting impact on our organization through their leadership, expertise, and commitment to our mission.

Emma's journey began as an Unbound intern before returning years later to serve on the board, including as Chief Governing Officer. Her insight and expertise in marketing, strategy, and organizational growth helped shape Unbound's future and strengthen our ability to serve families around the world.

Dennis first connected with Unbound as a sponsor alongside his wife, Rosemary, in 2001. His dedication to our mission ultimately led him to board service, where he brought financial expertise, thoughtful leadership, and a deep belief in the power of education to create opportunities for children and families.

We are deeply grateful for the time, talent, and heart Emma and Dennis have shared with Unbound. Their contributions have helped strengthen our organization and advance our mission in meaningful ways.

This Women's Equality Day, we're reflecting on what helps women thrive.

In Unbound evaluations conducted across 16 countries, women participating in programs reported stronger financial inclusion, greater leadership opportunities and increased participation in skills training. In Guatemala, 70% of participants had a bank account in their own name compared to 24% of women on the waiting list.

Women's empowerment strengthens families and communities. The evidence continues to show that when women lead, lasting progress follows.
