Moms Demand Action is a grassroots movement of Americans fighting for public safety measures that can protect people from gun violence. We pass stronger gun laws a

nd work to close the loopholes that jeopardize the safety of our families. We also work in our own communities and with business leaders to encourage a culture of responsible gun ownership. We know that gun violence is preventable, and we’re committed to doing what it takes to keep families safe. We were founded by Shannon Watts, a mother of five. The day after the Sandy Hook tragedy, Shannon started a Facebook group with the message that all Americans can and should do more to reduce gun violence. The online conversation turned into a movement of moms, dads, students, families, concerned citizens and survivors working together with our partners in the gun violence prevention movement to end this uniquely American crisis.

Be SMART for Kids volunteers had a great time tabling at the WyCo Back to School Health Fair!

Fi****ms are now the leading cause of death among children in the United States. That’s why it’s more important than ever for parents and caregivers to know how secure firearm storage works. It’s simple. To help keep your family safe and prevent tragedies, it’s crucial to secure your firearm.

One of the worst possible outcomes of leaving a gun unsecured is the serious injury or death of someone you love. But there are other serious consequences to unsecured guns, like a teen using your firearm to carry out a school shooting, or a gun being stolen from your vehicle and then used in a violent crime.

Let’s do our part to keep kids, our schools, and our communities safe by securing guns in homes and vehicles — stored unloaded, locked, and separate from ammunition. Taking these simple steps could prevent a tragedy.

There’s a lot at stake in our elections. Every day, nearly 130 people in the United States are killed by guns, and more than 200 are shot and wounded. We are dedicated to creating a future free from gun violence—and that starts with electing candidates who will govern with gun safety in mind. That’s why we continue to lead major electoral engagement programs and grassroots-powered actions to support Gun Sense across the country, and right here in Kansas

Over 20,000 Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidates have been recognized since 2018. We will continue adding Gun Sense Candidates to our roster through the November elections.

See who yours are at gunsensevoter.org/ and come back often as more candidates are recognized!
