Thank you to everyone who joined the Johnson County Moms Demand Action group for our October meeting! October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, an important time to recognize the impact of domestic violence and the role gun safety plays in protecting individuals and families.

The Wichita Police Department announced Thursday that the suspect wanted in Wednesday’s deadly shooting and carjacking is in custody.

Police believe the shooting to be a "domestic-related incident."

"Nobody should have to take part in a domestic violence relationship," Ford told reporters at the scene, adding that October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Thanks to the Merriam PD for including Johnson County in their National Night Out festivities at Waterfall Park!
Parents and grandparents are clearly concerned about gun violence and keeping guns out of the hands of children and teens. For some, asking about how guns are stored before their kids go to a playdate, sleepover, or party was something they had not considered, but resolved to do from now on!
