Bethel Neighborhood Center We are a nonprofit started in 1911. Our mission is to offer hope to all to achieve self-sufficiency. We run after school and summer programs for grades 1-12.

Bethel Neighborhood Center (BNC) has been serving people of all ages -- from infants to senior adults in the Kansas City, Kansas community for 112 years, since 1911. It has a history of serving newly immigrated or migrated people groups to the Kansas City community who consist primarily of economically challenged and underserved families and individuals. We serve the community through meals, food

pantry, health, educational, sewing training, and recreational programs to promote physical and social wellness. Since early 1920s, BNC has been recognized as a United Way agency. Since 1971, BNC has been recognized as a nutrition site by Area Agency on Aging of Wyandotte County. In 2020, we served more than 23,000 individuals, and in 2021, more 13,000 through our food pantry. Homework help, social skills, conflict resolution, community service, and college readiness are some of the things we do with our children and youth.

This week has been exceptional here at the center, where we had the pleasure of hosting 125+ students from 1st grade to 12th grade. Highlights of our activities include two engaging sessions with EPIC Clay Studio, an exciting trip to the Royals game against the Texas Rangers, a comprehensive CPR and emergency awareness session led by Karla with Healing Heroic Healers, and welcoming the largest high school group we've had since COVID. Our Free Medical Clinic in partnership with Better Together Inc. continues to save lives. Yesterday we caught an uninsured patient whose blood pressure was as high as 195/136, and another patient with a blood glucose above 400! Every life is precious and we would like to do all we can to save lives and to make life better for everyone.

Our children and youth led the worship service yesterday evening, and their musical talents and shared testimonies were truly inspiring to everyone present. Thank you dedicated teachers for teaching our children and young people to shine the light of Jesus in our homes and communities.

Preparations for the upcoming Summer Youth Enrichment Program are proceeding smoothly, with most grade enrollments closed and classes prepared. A memorable kickoff event was held yesterday, setting the tone for the program. We are grateful for the trust parents have shown in our program. The summer program will commence from June 8th and conclude on July 31st focusing on a theme, “DON’T QUIT: KEEP GROWING.”

We acknowledge with gratitude the support of FBC Olathe, who have provided again delicious lunches and fun activities.
