A bicycle, a pair of work boots, a pair of tennis shoes, and socks were e delivered to a man we met at Winner Park. This man has gone from living on the street, to now being housed. He has gotten a job, but had no transportation. He also only had one pair of tennis shoes that were falling apart. (Duct tape can't fix everything.)
He now has appropriate foot wear for work, an every day pair of shoes, and transportation!
Also, thanks to everyone's donations Clint was able to deliver three bikes and puzzles to River Of Refuge. One of their clients recently had their bike, that they used for transportation to work, stolen. That bike was replaced and they got some bikes for the kids there.

Thank you to Taylor Baker for donating 2 children's bikes and one tricycle. We are keeping Clint busy fixing up bikes! Donated bikes are repaired then given to those in need. When we get a large number of bikes, they are sold to make money for: additional bike parts, food for the needy, or first aid/hygiene items. 100% of any money made goes towards our service projects.

THANK YOU to Clint Klesath, Erica Standley, Suzie DeVore Warren, Kristen Melvin, Cindy George, Christina Wheeler, Kevin Gregg, Butch and Jane Demaree, and Jake Brewer for spending part of your day with us at Winner Park passing out items to those in need. Today was a good day. Special thanks to Christina for bringing a lot of extra items that she knows we always run out of, and to each of you that add to our tables. Thank you to Clint for fixing up the bicycles and Erica for hauling them out there. Thanks to Butch and Jake for always watching and being aware of our surroundings so we can focus on the people we are helping.
Thank you to Jake for videoing today. This gives people some idea of what it is like. If anyone would like to see his live videos they are on his FB page. The one where he was talking to one of the men out there is amazing. The man played a song by another artist for Jake. It was THE PERFECT backdrop for the video.

People always ask what we need. Right now we need toothpaste; the small tubes that your dentist will probably give you a small case of if you ask. Just tell them it is for the homeless. We also always need the following items from the Dollar Tree: toilet paper, deodorant, Acetaminophen, dry shampoo, sewing kits, mouthwash, toilet paper, sunscreen, bug repellent, ponchos, band-aids, hydrogen peroxide (in the smaller spray bottles. But they will leak, so keep them upright.) All items need to be smaller "travel size" as the true homeless have to carry all of their items with them at all times. Also, we can always use dry dog food. It can be an opened bag that your dog did not like. We re-bag it into quart sized bags.

Thank you to everyone that donates items to Teren's S.T.A.R.S.
We could not do what we do without your help!

THANK YOU to Bike Stop in Lee's Summit! They donated a gently used, adult bike right off of their sales floor. We will "re-home" this bike to someone who needs it.
Thank you!
Also, if anyone has any puzzles or large print books, we have a senior care center in Lee's Summit that would really appreciate them!
Thank you!

Recently Teren's S.T.A.R.S. delivered puzzles to a nursing home in Lee's Summit. They were thrilled with the donation. Apparently there is very little fir their residents to do to occupy their time. They are also could really use large print books for their residents. So, if you have any gently used puzzles or large print books, we will be happy to re-home them for you. Thank you, Clint for delivering these.
Also, we donated money to an elementary school to help pay off some outstanding school lunch balances.
Thank you, all for your continued support.
Reminder, we will be doing another Winner Park visit on Sunday, April 19th.
Your donations do make a difference!

Information from Teren's S.T.A.R.S. meeting-

Our next Winner Park visit is scheduled for Sunday, April 19th. Meet at The Little Blue Barn by noon if you would like to come help us. We will also be passing out information regarding benefits for Veterans.

We voted to:
-help pay off outstanding school lunch balances at an elementary school
-food donations to Welcome Inn in Blue Springs
-continue donating QT gift cards to homeless

We will continue collecting: -donated bicycles and tricycles. These are either given to those that need them or sold to help purchase items for the homeless.
-aluminum pop/beer cans to recycle for funds
-gently used puzzles fir senior centers.
-pet supplies, old towels, very used blankets for pet shelters
-first aide & hygiene items for the needy/homeless such as Acetaminophen (not Ibuprofen or aspirin), deodorant, small tubes of toothpaste, toilet paper, antibiotic ointment, band-aids, dog or cat food, etc.
-non-parishable food items for people living in long-term stay motels
Any of the above items can be dropped off on my or Clint's porches, or bring them to the VFW in Lee's Summit on Sundays from 4:00 - 8:00 the next 2 Sundays. There will be several S.T.A.R.S. members there that will be happy to collect them from you.
Thank you to all that help us help others.

Today Teren's S.T.A.R.S. recycled 151 pounds of aluminum! It took us two trips to the recycling center as we had too many cans to fit in the truck in one load. Thank you to everyone that drops their cans off for us to recycle, and thank you to Clint for donating his truck and his time to do this.
For those that do not know, there is a set of 3 wooden boxes (with lids) on the west (road) side of the shed, on my south property line. Feel free to drop off tied bagged of cans there any time. Your efforts really help with recycling AND they help our organization make money for our community service projects.
I only got a picture of the last trip that we made. The first trip totally filled one of their large containers.

These are just some of the things that you helped do last year!
You helped:
- three people get their vehicles fixed so they could get to work,
- provide needed items to a family whose house burned down,
- school kids with much needed supplies and uniforms,
- pay off outstanding school lunch balances so kids could eat,
- provide food for extended stay guests at a motel throughout the year,
- provide numerous bicycles to needy children and teens,
- provide hygiene and first aid supplies to the needy,
- put books in the hands of children and adults that can't get to the library,
- send supplies to people in the St. Louis tornado,
- recycle hundreds of pounds of aluminum cans,
- provide monetary donations to other charitable causes,
- donate to a foundation for a 13 year old girl, who had just beaten cancer, then died in a house fire,
- get needed supplies for a pet shelter,
- provide puzzles to people in senior living facilities,
- pay rent for a lady and her son who had to miss work when her disabled son passed away,
- get gas cards to people living in their cars,
- provide blankets, tarps, coats, sweats, socks, glives, underwear, and shoes to those without,
- provide Thanksgiving meals to people living under a bridge.

YOU did this and so much more! You may think that you did just a little, but it all adds up.

I have been asked where our money comes from to do these things. The answer- 4 places. 1) cash donations to the organization, 2) usually one fundraiser a year, 3) recycling aluminum cans, and 4) from selling items that we can not give out in a yearly parking lot sale or on FB Market Place. Thank you to Lesa Naudet for doing the Market Place sales for us! Many, many people donate items that we in turn, get to those that need them.

Thank you for all of your support from Teren's S.T.A.R.S. and those that you helped.

Teren's S.T.A.R.S. had a great day yesterday. We made a visit to Winner Park to pass out items to those in need. Thanks to so many people that donated items prior to and during our time there. Thank you to our members and helpers that came out : Cindy George, Christina Wheeler, Clint Klesath, Jake Brewer, Jenna Goring, Melissa Bowling, and Suzie DeVore Warren. Each of us stayed busy the whole time.

10/16/2025

Teren's S.T.A.R.S. sends out a big thank you to:
Annamarie Castro, Jackie Michaels, and Marsha Linville Gant for their donations of coats, jackets, and sweatshirts; to Deidra Light-Atchley for her donation of water and reusable water bottles; Jane Demaree for dropping of tarps and aluminum cans, Zachary Van Benthusen for the boxes of Narcan, and to Georgiana Cobb for the boxes and boxes of items for the needy such as: multiple hygiene and first aid items, new underwear and socks, among many other items!
All of these items will be put to good use. We go out to Winner Park this Sunday. We're going to need to bring more tables!

09/17/2025

Thank you to everyone that donated items for Teren's S.T.A.R.S., for either the sale or for the homeless. Gale & James H. II Hart for bicycles, Jace Van Benthusen for the Narcan, Suzie DeVore Warren and Georgiana Cobb for various items. Thanks to everyone that drops off aluminum cans for us! Thanks to Lesa Naudet for handling the sale of bikes that are not given directly to the needy for our fundraising.
Also THANK YOU to the volunteers that showed up to help pack and put tables away: Jace Van Benthusen, Paul Davidson, Friday (thanks Kristen Melvin for sending him), Clay, and Tyler Doak. Tyler also brought cold water for tired, hot vendors to drink!
Teren's S.T.A.R.S. did well at the sale thanks to all of your donations and support. We have just recently purchased QT gift cards for the homeless, helped homeless in a small camp on 40 highway, given away bikes and bought parts to fix others, donated to The Walk for Life and to a memorial fund for a 13 year old fire victim, and purchased and delivered food and first aide items for the needy living at Welcome Inn in Blue Springs.
THANK YOU!
