🌟 Another incredible week of service at YVCKC! 🌟

This week, our volunteers were busy making a difference all across the Kansas City area! 💙

🐐 At Deanna Rose Farmstead, youth helped create memorable experiences for visitors while supporting one of our community’s favorite destinations.

🌱 At Global One Urban Farming, volunteers got their hands dirty helping grow fresh produce and strengthen local food systems.

🐾 At Wayside Waifs, youth served alongside staff to support animals in need and help keep the shelter running smoothly.

We are so proud of the energy, positivity, and hard work our volunteers brought to every project this week. Thank you to our amazing nonprofit partners for welcoming our youth and showing them the power of service!

🌟 Volunteers of the Week Spotlight! 🌟

This week, we're excited to recognize **Kendreyl and Ava** as our YVCKC Volunteers of the Week! 🎉

When asked what her favorite part about YVCKC is, **Kendreyl** shared:

*"Making connections and being able to meet people."*

**Ava** said:

*"My favorite part about YVCKC is helping people out and making a difference in life."*

While both Kendreyl and Ava are newer to Youth Volunteer Corps Kansas City, they have already jumped into service with enthusiasm and heart. Even better, they are signed up to volunteer with us all summer long! ☀️🙌

We love seeing youth discover the power of service, build new friendships, and make a real impact in our community. Kendreyl and Ava are already doing just that, and we can't wait to see all they accomplish this summer.

🦗😆 Would YOU eat a bug?!

Our YVCKC volunteers spent the day serving at Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead’s Bug Day, helping run the famous “Eat a Bug” station! These youth were encouraging brave visitors to step outside their comfort zones and give bug snacking a try.

One of our volunteers decided to lead by example… and let’s just say their reaction was priceless! 😂
Whether they were handing out crickets, cheering on adventurous eaters, or sampling a few themselves, our youth had a bug-tastic time serving the community today.

🌟 Volunteer of the Week Spotlight! 🌟

This week, we're excited to recognize Shria as one of our YVCKC Volunteers of the Week! 🎉

When asked why she loves volunteering with Youth Volunteer Corps Kansas City, Shria shared:

"All of the connections I have made with other people, other volunteers and mentors, they have always been supportive and it’s been really fun!"

Shria has already contributed an incredible 130+ hours of service through YVCKC, making a lasting impact on our community while building meaningful relationships along the way. 💙

🎨🌱 Calling all creative changemakers! 🌱🎨

YVCKC is thrilled to partner with Build WyCo for a unique week of service this summer that combines community impact with the arts!

From June 29–July 2, youth volunteers will spend their mornings helping in community gardens and their afternoons assisting at Epic Clay Studio, gaining hands-on experience while supporting organizations making a difference in our community.

This is a fantastic opportunity for youth who enjoy art, creativity, working outdoors, and giving back to the community. Whether you're interested in pottery, gardening, community development, or all of the above, this week has something for you!

🎨🔨 Calling all youth! 🔨🎨

Looking for a fun and meaningful way to spend part of your summer? Join Youth Volunteer Corps Kansas City, Ivanhoe Neighborhood Council, and NorthPoint Foundation July 14–16 as we create two exciting new Kid Corners at the Ivanhoe Community Center!

Volunteers will help transform these spaces through painting, decorating, building, and adding creative touches that will make them welcoming, engaging places for local children to learn and play.

This is a unique opportunity to leave a lasting impact on the community while earning volunteer hours, developing new skills, and working alongside other youth who are passionate about making a difference.

🌱💪 Service in action!

Yesterday and today, around 30 amazing youth volunteers rolled up their sleeves and got to work at Global One Urban Farming, helping support local food production and community sustainability efforts right here in Kansas City.

This incredible day of service was made possible through a partnership between Youth Volunteer Corps Kansas City, Young Women on the Move, and The Village Initiative. Together, these young leaders spent the day learning, serving, and making a meaningful impact in their community.

We are so proud of their hard work, positive attitudes, and commitment to creating a stronger, healthier Kansas City. Thank you to Global One Urban Farming for welcoming our youth and providing such a valuable hands-on service experience!

🌞 Week 1 of YVCKC Summer Programming is in the books, and we’re ending the week strong! 💪

Our incredible youth volunteers spent the week making a difference across Kansas City, serving at Global One Urban Farming, Nourish KC, and A Turning Point. From growing fresh food and supporting neighbors experiencing food insecurity to helping create brighter futures for families in our community, these young people showed what service is all about.

We’re so proud of the impact they made this week and can’t wait to see what the rest of the summer has in store! 💙💚
