Over the weekend the historical society planned out a recovery for our 1927 Ahrens Fox tiller ladder. We were contacted by the salty dog museum in Shandon Ohio who wanted to donate the truck back to the museum. We were able to spend a couple days in Ohio and made really good friends and contacts for historical trucks and preservation of history. We would like to personally thank Rodger and Santa Fe tow services for facilitating and over coming a few hurdles of bringing it home. This truck was in service from 1927 through the 1970s. The truck was sold by the city to a personal collector in the St. Louis area. Ahrens Fox who was owned by KME in Cincinnati Ohio acquired the truck for their showroom as it sat on display. The truck thing was donated to the Cincinnati fire Museum and ended up in the salty dog fire museum in Shandon, Ohio. The salty dog fire museum needed room for another Cincinnati original historical truck and they contacted KCFD‘s historical society to see if we would like it back. We did not hesitate and start a facilitating very quickly on how to get it back. after a long weekend, the 1927 Ahrens Fox Tiller ladder landed back in the original shop that it was worked on in the late 50s and 60s as a Frontline apparatus in 2027. This truck will become 100 years old and it will complete our 1927 Ahrens fox pumper hose wagon and tiller ladder collection. The museum would like to again thank Santa Fe and Local 42 for the contributions to help get this truck back into Kansas City to preserve our history.
