In September CPC once again hosted the CSEC Coalition coffee hour, bringing together local nonprofit organizations, law enforcement, Children’s Division, and Children’s Mercy Hospital.

The CSEC Coalition works collaboratively to disrupt, prevent, and respond to the commercial sexual exploitation of children through training, education, and partnership.

These coffee hours give coalition members the chance to connect outside of the day-to-day work, strengthen relationships, and welcome new members from across our community.

A huge thank you to our generous sponsors, Aurora Café & Bakery for the incredible conchas and The Roasterie Kansas City's Coffee Company for the delicious coffee that kept the conversations flowing. We’re grateful for your support of our community.

CPC was proud to attend and table at the Promise 1000 Kickoff Event at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts on September 22!

Rebecca, CPC's Prevention Specialist, and Tori, our Prevention Intern from the University of Kansas, joined early childhood home visiting partners to celebrate the important work being done for children and families. They participated in professional development and learned about community resources that help strengthen family support systems and support positive outcomes for children.

A major thank you to our friends at United Way of Greater Kansas City and KC Current! Last week, CPC was gifted two tickets to experience the KC Current match from the party deck, including food, beverages, and a celebration of the impact of 211 services across our community.

This year we are celebrating thirty years of showing up for children and families—and the Child Protection Center team took a moment Wednesday to enjoy that milestone together!

With a beautiful cake and thank-you gifts from the board, we took a moment to honor the people who make this work possible. We’re grateful for everyone who has stood alongside CPC over the past 30 years.

Happy 30th Anniversary, CPC!

COMBAT (Community Backed Anti-Crime Tax) Jackson County Combat is Jackson County’s quarter-cent sales tax that helps fund three staff members who provide trauma-informed support to children and families at CPC. We are one of more than 100 programs at 400+ locations across Jackson County that rely on this funding.

On Nov. 3, voters will decide whether to renew the existing quarter-cent sales tax as Question 1. This is not a new tax or a tax increase

Happy Wednesday! We’re excited to welcome our amazing new Child and Family Therapist, Yazmin. From supporting children and families to creating spaces where healing can happen, Yazmin’s passion makes a difference.

Join us in giving her a warm CPC welcome!

Check out the “why” behind her role:

“Being a Child and Family Therapist at CPC means holding space for healing, growth, and connection. I guide children and caregivers through some of their most difficult moments, helping them find their voices, rebuild safety, and strengthen relationships. This work allows me to support families in discovering resilience they didn’t know they had.” —Yazmin
