Most of us answered this question a long time ago. We decided what mattered, built a life around it, and stopped checking.

But the answer doesn't hold still. The thing you organized your twenties around isn't the thing that got you through your forties. Something you'd have said without hesitation five years ago might not survive being said out loud today.

The trouble is that nobody tells you when it changes. There's no notice. You just keep going, living for something that quietly stopped being true, and wondering why it doesn't feel like it used to.

This Sunday we're checking. Not what you should be living for — what you actually are, and whether it still holds.

Someone in the room said this last week and it stopped everybody: sometimes I have to unwant things for other people.

We do it constantly. We want the recovery for them. We want them to take the opportunity, leave the situation, see what we can see. It feels like love, and some of it is. But wanting something for someone who hasn't asked for it puts a weight on them, and it can keep us from being any use at all.

This Sunday we start with the one person you have in mind, and then we go wider — what you might need to stop wanting on someone's behalf, and what becomes possible for both of you when you do.

Everybody has a signal. A tightness in your chest before you say yes to something. A phrase that keeps returning for months. A dream you can't shake. A sudden lift when a certain subject comes up.

Most of us have one and have never named it out loud.

This Sunday we're asking how your soul gets your attention — not what it's saying, but how it reaches you in the first place. What's remarkable is that the answers are never the same. Your signal isn't anyone else's. That's what makes it a language rather than a message.

Come find out what yours is, and hear how differently it works for everyone else in the room.

Immediately following the show, Djalòki Jean-Luc Dessables is hosting a free introductory workshop for Living Your Soul Language, his 11-week course beginning October 4.

Someone offers you help and you say you're fine. Someone pays you a compliment and you deflect it before they've finished the sentence. Someone hands you something you actually need, and your first move is to hand it back.

Most of us are far better at giving than receiving, and we tend to treat that as a virtue. But it might be costing us more than we know — in what we don't let ourselves accept, in what we never ask for, and in what other people don't get to give.

This week we're asking what's underneath that. Where the reflex comes from, what it's protecting, and what becomes possible when you let something in.

We're exploring this with people joining us from around the world, live and unscripted. There are no fixed answers here. Share your strategies and hear others as the topic is explored situation by situation, person by person. Let's develop some new perspectives together.
