Kansas City Artists Coalition The Artists Coalition was created to change the lives of artists living in the Kansas City region.

The Artists Coalition was created to change the lives of Kansas City visual artists and to promote visual arts awareness and artistic culture in the states of Missouri, Kansas and the surrounding region. The Kansas City Artists Coalition (KCAC), an artist-centered, artist-run alternative space, presents a variety of contemporary visual art exhibitions in its Main Gallery exhibiting artists from all mediums and all areas and the Snap Space Gallery designated for artists between the ages of 18-35 year of age and working in any medium. The Artists Coalition also provides opportunities for artists including panel discussions, publications, programs and workshops, as well as, the Annual Benefit Art Auction, and the Artists Studio that give 10 local artists access to safe and stable studios.

Asya Baldwin is joining KCAC this November to lead our three-part Watercolor for Beginners series, and we asked her what teaching here means to her.

“Teaching at KCAC feels like the beginning of a new chapter for me. After many years of teaching in different states and countries, I’m excited to become part of the Kansas City arts community.”

For Asya Baldwin Art , teaching is about more than following steps:

“Every class becomes a small creative journey we take together—there is nothing more rewarding than seeing a student discover new confidence and begin making independent artistic choices.”

And that’s exactly the spirit behind this series.

“Watercolor can be an artist’s deliberate choice or an unexpected love… asking us to understand when to guide it and when to let it surprise us.”

Join Asya at KCAC for three Saturdays of experimentation, technique, and discovery.

November 7, 14 + 21 | 11 AM–2 PM
One registration includes the full three-session series.

New instructor. New three-part series. A whole lot of watercolor. 🎨

We’re excited to welcome artist and educator Asya Baldwin to KCAC for Watercolor for Beginners: Discover. Choose. Combine. Express.

Asya brings more than 16 years of teaching experience to this three-session series designed specifically for beginners. Rather than following one painting step-by-step, you’ll learn how watercolor actually behaves—experimenting with washes, wet-on-wet, dry brush, atmosphere, special effects, and more before learning how to choose and combine those techniques in your own work.

Over three Saturdays, you’ll move from experimentation to landscapes, atmospheric skies and water, and finally a larger expressive floral painting.

November 7, 14 + 21
11 AM–2 PM each Saturday

One registration signs you up for the entire three-session series (see our website for more info).

No previous watercolor or drawing experience required—just curiosity and a willingness to experiment.
