This page was created to provide a virtual forum for coordinating and discussing plans to serve food and drink for the surrounding community in the Kansas City Swope Park/Meyer Blvd Area On Sundays At 12:30pm.
Love Thy Neighbor's goal is simple: to provide food, drink, assistance to those who needs it within the Kansas City Metro Swope Park/Meyer Blvd area. For some, we exist as an alternative welcoming food resource to those who choose not to be affiliated with other existing resources for a variety of personal reasons.
These are the suggested guidelines to make it easier for new participants to engage with our community.
Generally, volunteers will prepare meals depending upon available resources and supplies. The meals will be transported to Unity Southeast to be served to those who desire it. Serving time typically starts at 12:30pm and will be served until we are out of food. We serve in buddy system and it is ideal to have more than 4-5 people to help with serving, manage crowd control and cleanliness of the surroundings to avoid conflict with local authority.
Leftover food may be transported over to any shelter such as the Rescue Mission, other local churches that works with an unhoused community, or other known encampments.
As a courtesy to keep this space convenient and organized, please keep posts relevant to Love Thy Neighbor activities and avoid discussing politics, religions, or other strongly sensitive topics that may have contingency for tensions.
Please be mindful of this space and respect each other as we serve a common purpose. Manipulative, negative and/or aggressive behavior, including hate speech, will not tolerated. Physical or verbal aggression projected towards anyone here and the larger population we serve will not be tolerated by this community. Hate speech targeting a person for their race, gender, sexual orientation, religious preferences, ethnicity, nationality, among others will not be tolerated by this community. Please respect each other while engaging in this community forum.
Thank you all for keeping up a good fight against food insecurity.
