TRI-CIT is proud to recognize Carl Zornes of NKC Health as our TRI-CIT Member of the Month!

As the Emergency Manager for NKC Health, Carl leads disaster preparedness efforts across the health system — coordinating contingency planning, risk mitigation, training, and emergency exercises for everything from severe weather and mass casualty events to workplace violence and cybersecurity incidents. His work plays a critical role in protecting patients, staff, and the community every day.

With a strong background in law enforcement and private security, Carl has long understood the importance of compassionate crisis response and mental health awareness. After attending CIT training in 2019 while serving as a Security Sergeant, he helped launch the CIT program within the hospital for Security personnel and key clinical staff — helping strengthen responses to behavioral health crises and improve care for individuals in need.

Carl’s dedication to emergency preparedness, collaboration, and mental health advocacy continues to make a meaningful impact throughout NKC Health and the region. Outside of work, he enjoys playing piano with his church orchestra, accompanying music students, and spending time with family and friends playing 13-point pitch — a card game tradition passed down from his grandfather that he proudly continues with the next generation.

Thank you, Carl, for your leadership, service, and commitment to the mission of CIT.

Our most sincere condolences to all of our friends at the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Our most sincere condolences to all of our friends at the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

We are heartbroken by the loss of one of our beloved members, Corporal Gary Daniels.

Gary was a solid man of character, a trusted teammate, and a smiling face to so many across the Patrol family. His service, leadership, and care for others left a lasting mark on those who worked beside him and those he helped guide.

Even the strongest minds can face dark moments. Pain can seep in quietly, and sometimes it reaches those we would never expect.

To every coworker, friend, and loved one: you are not alone. Help is always available. Please ask for help, check on one another, and never hesitate to call or text 988 for the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. Support is free, confidential, and available 24/7.

Gary will be missed, remembered, and forever part of the Patrol family.
