As you continue to learn more about us this month, for our second post we want to share with you some of the goals that CBAKC hopes to accomplish when training the inner-city youth:

- Enhance quality of play in inner-city and recreational leagues.
- Increase college and professional level recruiting for inner-city youth.
- Provide inner-city youth a recreational, physical and educational alternative when school is not in session.
- Offer this program at no cost or at a reduced cost, based on the participant’s ability to pay.
- Enable participants to excel athletically and academically beyond their expectations.
- Promote confidence and empowerment by developing skills that will lead to their long-term success and productivity.
- Provide trained youth development professionals (coaches, former baseball players, physical education teachers, educators etc.), to assist participants in their athletic and academic development.
- Build a positive social network that fosters camaraderie and personal accomplishment and builds confidence and self-esteem.

The Community Baseball Academy of Kansas City (CBAKC), is a nonprofit organization developed by Don Motley, coach, manager and scout for more than 50 years; and his grandson Brittan Motley, who played professionally with the San Diego Padres organization and is a part-time Kansas City Royals scout. CBAKC is designed primarily to teach baseball and softball skills to inner-city youth and help them develop the expertise and talent to successfully compete in baseball and softball programs with their school districts and ultimately, in a collegiate setting.
