FREELANCE MUSICIANS ASSOCIATION

What started as a series of regional education modules and conference meetups has evolved into a powerful, self-governing body. In September 2025, the FMA began meeting as an international collective of members to address the specific needs of the independent workforce. Our meetings provide a forum for musicians across the federation to share stories, debate strategy, and solve problems unique to their work.

We are currently working toward official recognition as a Player Conference, ensuring that freelance voices are not just heard but are a permanent part of the Federation’s decision-making structure. At just $5 a year, FMA dues are intentionally set to be affordable for every working mu...

To All Local #34-627 AFM Members:

Funding is still plentiful for Local for MPTF projects.
Although projects may be submitted all year for 50/50 funding, several upcoming months have 100% MPTF payouts (Co-sponsor pays $0) for projects in the following categories:
Black History Month – February
Women’s History Month – March
Jazz Appreciation Month – April
Guidelines require 30 day advance application for all projects whether 100% funded or 50/50.
Venue should be open to the public.

If you are interested in planning a project, please email us at:
[email protected].
We will follow up with you for details and help put the pieces together.

Thanks-
