Foster families do incredible work, but they shouldn’t have to do it alone. We are currently needing a volunteer to provide consistent support to this family in our community.

The Goal: To provide a stable, helping hand so that the family can thrive.

The Requirement: A big heart and a few hours of your time.

We have a big goal for May: to start the journey of getting our waitlist of 18 youth down to zero. To do that, we need your help to kick off our “Who Do You Know?” campaign.

We often hear from people, “I’d love to help, but I didn’t know how to start.” That’s where you come in. You are the bridge between a potential volunteer and a child who needs a role model. Think about your neighbors, your church small group, or your favorite coworkers.

Sometimes, the only thing standing between a waiting youth and a mentor is a simple invitation. This month, we’re asking you to be the voice for those 18 kids. Who in your life is waiting for the opportunity to make an impact? Let’s find them together.

DM if interested or tag a friend below!

WHO DO YOU KNOW? 📣 | Mentorship Opportunity | PLEASE SHARE

We have TWO young women on our D2D waitlist who are at such a pivotal crossroad. Meet two sisters.

Sister 1 is 18 and has a huge heart—specifically a passion for helping other teens facing homelessness. She’s funny, loves a good movie, and enjoys just being outdoors. Career-wise, she’s eyeing a future as a millwright, but she’s the first to admit she needs a "voice of reason" in her corner.

Sister 2 is 19 and is balancing full time work and college! She is thoughtful, goal-oriented loves the simple things in life. She is wanting a career in education but she knows she needs encouragement, guidance and support as she is chasing these dreams.

The Goal: We are looking TWO amazing female volunteers to help these girls figure out who they are individually and how to reach the big goals they each have in life.

📍 Location: Downtown KC / Jackson County

Ideal Match: Someone grounded and reliable who can be that steady guide.

How you can help: Even if you aren’t in a place to mentor right now, who do you know that would be a perfect fit for one of these sisters? A coworker? Someone from your gym? A family member? YOU?! Please TAG them and SHARE this to your story to help us these teens!

This teen is a driven 19-year-old in Kansas City balancing full-time work and college while exploring a future in child education. She’s thoughtful, goal-oriented, and loves the simple things: walks, shopping, and a calm, steady routine. Right now, she’s working toward greater independence and hopes to gain hands-on experience with kids. She would thrive with a mentor who can offer encouragement, guidance, and support as she continues building confidence and chasing her goals.

They say it takes a village to raise a child, but for foster parents, that village is often more of a wish than a reality.

Right now, we have a local family pouring everything they have into loving kids who have experienced the unimaginable. They are doing the hard, beautiful, exhausting work of healing hearts.

We are looking for one volunteer to step into the gap. This isn’t about grand gestures; it’s about showing up once a month with a meal, a listening ear, or a simple box of supplies that says, “I see you, and you aren’t alone.

Was this fun to make? Yes.
Did we rope an innocent Board Member into our reel shenanigans because she was here? Also yes.
But did we make it just for fun? Well, yes … and no! lol

We DESPERATELY need volunteers! Who do you know that could simply give one hour a month?! Tag them or send them this post!

“I could never have kept fostering without them.”

Fostering is beautiful, but it can also be incredibly heavy. When one local foster mama faced a sudden, unexpected divorce mid-journey, the statistics said her foster home should have closed.

But she had a secret weapon: Robin and Leslie.

These two best friends didn't just sign up to volunteer; they signed up to be a lifeline. While the world felt like it was shifting, Robin and Leslie were the "village" that stayed put. They walked alongside this family for three years—through the transitions, the court dates, and the chaos—until those children reached their "forever" through adoption.

Did you know that 50% of foster homes close after just one year? Often, it’s not because the families stop caring—it’s because they run out of support. In KCMO, there are 2,000 kids in care, and our goal is to make sure every single one of them has a village like Robin and Leslie.

You don’t have to do this alone. In fact, it’s better when you don't.

👯‍♀️ Tag the friend you’d want by your side as a volunteer.

8 names. 24 hours.

In the last 24 hours, eight more local teens have been referred to our programs. These aren’t just files on a desk…they are Kansas City kids who are ready for a mentor, and a community that says, “We see you.”

But here is the heavy reality: These 8 names don’t even include our existing waitlist. With these new referrals, we now have 40 families in KCMO waiting for support. That is 88 children currently navigating the foster care system without the extra “village” they deserve.

We are at a tipping point, and we need you.

You don’t have to be a superhero or a foster parent to change these numbers. You just have to be a neighbor who shows up.
