BIG congratulations to Taylor & Travis - we're so happy for you and wish you the very best. πŸ’™

Thank you both for your generous support of Big Slick and Children's Mercy over the years.

If you followed along during this year's Big Slick Celebrity Weekend, then you probably met Piper - one of the brightest stars of the entire weekend.

Many of you first met her when she fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a DJ on 90.9 The Bridge , where she interviewed Eric Stonestreet and others with the confidence, curiosity and joy that instantly won everyone over.

When Piper asked Eric why Big Slick was important to him, his answer said it all:

"You're the reason. I get to meet people like you... you inspire me so much."

When asked by Scott Avett of the Avett Brothers (one of Piper's favorite bands) if DJ'ing felt natural, Piper smiled and said:

"It's definitely scary... I think nothing feels natural on your first day."

The rest of the world got to meet Piper when Al Roker shared her story on the Today Show. Her smile, her spirit and her infectious enthusiasm reminded all of us exactly why this weekend exists.

It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we share that Piper lost her battle with cancer this week.

Our thoughts are with Piper's family, her friends, and the extraordinary doctors, nurses and staff at Children's Mercy who cared for and loved her throughout her journey.

Everyone who had the privilege of meeting Piper will remember the joy she brought into every room. Whether she was behind a microphone, answering questions on camera, or graciously accepting compliments about her incredible DJ skills, she made everyone around her smile.

Piper is also a reminder of why Big Slick exists.

Every dollar raised through Big Slick helps Children's Mercy continue caring for remarkable kids like Piper while pushing forward the research that will one day make stories like hers far less common.

And to the amazing team at CMH, we think Piper summed it up best when talking about her nurses with Eric:

"The nurses here are my best friends... the nurses have made this livable."

We couldn't agree more.

Thank you to Al Roker and the TODAY team for sharing Piper's story, to the incredible team at CMH, and to everyone who continues to support Big Slick and its mission.

Piper inspired all of us. We will carry her smile, her courage and her joy with us. πŸ’™

At this precise time seven days ago, the lights were coming up, the crowd was roaring and the 2026 Big Slick Show was officially underway. πŸŽͺπŸ’™

And BIG it was. Epic musical performances. Laugh out loud comedy. Mind-blowing magic. Incredible auction items. Heartfelt stories that reminded us exactly why we were in that room. And several thousand generous souls in the room who helped push the weekend's fundraising total to more than $4 million for pediatric cancer research and care at Children's Mercy.

There were standing ovations. There were tears. There were moments we'll be talking about for years. And there were definitely a few things you had to see to believe.

We're still reliving every minute of it... and you should too.

One week ago we spent time where the heart of this event truly lives.

We had the privilege of visiting the incredible kids and families at Children's Mercy, along with the doctors, nurses, researchers and staff who show up every day to provide world-class care, hope and healing.

These visits are a powerful reminder of why Big Slick exists and why this community continues to show up year after year.

To the patients and families who welcomed us into your rooms and shared your stories, thank you. To the Children's Mercy team, thank you for the compassion, expertise and love you pour into every child who walks through your doors. We are honored to support your mission.

The world’s biggest sporting event is headed to its smallest host this year: Kansas City, Missouri.

All eyes will be on the Midwestern town when it welcomes soccer teams and fans for the FIFA World Cup. As one of 16 host cities across the U.S., Canada and Mexico, Kansas City will host six matches in June and July.

The hometown pride runs deepest for Heidi Gardner, Saturday Night Live star and diehard Kansas City fan, who often returns home with undiminished enthusiasm.

β€œKansas City is so approachable, the city and the people,” she says.

Travelers will find world-famous barbecue, a thriving arts scene and spirited sports bars to watch the games. Here, the actress and comedian shares her most cherished places to visit during World Cup season.
