Today we honor Juneteenth, the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Texas finally received word of their emancipation, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

Freedom is not given. It is worked for by generations of people who refused to stop. We celebrate the resilience and joy of Black Americans today, and we recommit to the bodhisattva aspiration: the liberation and flourishing of all beings.

May all beings be free. May all beings know dignity. May we have the courage to be part of that freedom.

We invite you to gather with us this Sunday as we come together as one community to reawaken our Buddha-nature.

Dharma Talk: Awakening Through Interconnection

In this talk, Lama Matt explores the Buddhist teaching that suffering arises from the mistaken sense that we are separate from one another, and that compassion grows as we recognize our deep interdependence with all beings. Drawing on the story of Asanga and the wounded dog, we see how genuine compassion can dissolve self-centeredness and open the door to wisdom. The practice of dharma invites us to continually expand our circle of concern—from those we naturally care about to strangers, difficult people, and ultimately all beings without exception.

The Rime Center's Sunday Services will be located at the Rime Sangha House, or tune in online via YouTube Live for the Rime Center’s Online Sunday Service.

Traditionally, Tibetan Buddhists believe that wholesome actions performed during Saga Dawa are greatly magnified. For this reason, practitioners often make extra effort toward generosity, meditation, ethical living, and compassionate action throughout the month.

Maybe that means:
• feeding someone
• helping a neighbor
• spending time in meditation
• donating to a good cause
• practicing patience
• taking a break from harmful habits

Small actions matter.

This Sunday we invite you to practice together with the sangha at the Rime Buddhist Center.
