EcoRadio KC is a magazine show created by a team of volunteers made up of loca

l community organizers and activists who work together to create each week's show from live segments, prerecorded stories, and interviews. In addition to our core team, we draw upon the knowledge, experience, and ideas of other members of the community and area organizations. EcoRadio KC explores humanity's interdependence with the rest of the world, showing the connections between the ways we choose to live and the health of the whole community of life. As a result, we cover a wide range of topics, including local and regenerative agriculture, energy conservation and efficiency, justice, ecovillages, alternative medicine, indigenous peoples, clean energy, local food systems, biofuels, the need for multicultural participation in social change, global warming and climate disruption, extinction, green building and chemistry, and consumerism. The 3rd Annual One KC Kansas River Cleanup is coming soon!

Join Friends of the Kaw, our partners, and hundreds of your closest friends and do your part to protect our Kansas River! This year, we're excited to host the One KC Kansas River Cleanup along the Kansas River near the brand new Rock Island Bridge.

* The first 300 people in attendance will receive a free One KC t-shirt!
* Families are welcome and refreshments will be available.
* Visit educational displays by Kansas natural resource leaders.

Following the cleanup, participants will also have the opportunity to sample carp croquettes provided by the Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks Invasive Species Program. They're cooking them up on site, so feel free to work up an appetite at the cleanup!

A North American river otter has been documented along the Bronx River for the first time in approximately 100 years! This sighting provides evidence that decades of conservation and restoration are transforming one of New York City's most iconic waterways. The otter was photographed by a motion-activated camera deployed by local scientist, RJ Hawkins. Hawkins is conducting long-term camera trap monitoring for wildlife along the river as part of a program managed by the zoo’s Education Department. The discovery is believed to represent the first documented occurrence of a river otter in the Bronx section of the Bronx River since the early 1900s.

River otters once ranged throughout New York's waterways but disappeared from many areas because of pollution, habitat degradation, and unregulated trapping. Today they are considered indicators of healthy freshwater ecosystems because they depend on clean water, abundant fish, and intact aquatic habitats.
