The Presidents’ Round Table was founded January 1983 to bring together African-American Community College leaders for the purpose of ensuring their success as campus leaders. The group initially focused on advocac

y for each other and mentorships to ensure the African-American legacy in campus leadership positions. Other priorities included successful matriculations of African-American students and employment opportunities for African-Americans in community colleges across the nation with special emphasis on grooming future Presidents.

Current presidential opportunities, with a start date of July 1, 2025:
• Southwest Virginia Community College: Located in the heart of Appalachia, this college serves a rural region of the Commonwealth, with a student headcount of more than 3,200 (1,722 FTE). We extended this: Apply by Feb. 4, 2025.
• Virginia Western Community College: Located in Roanoke, this college has a presidential opening for the first time in two decades. VWCC has an enrollment of 8,441 (3,521 FTE). Apply by Noon on Feb. 4, 2025, by contacting [email protected]. • Danville Community College serves a rural area in southern Virginia, with a student headcount of 3,300 (1,540 FTE). This opportunity has March 3 as its “for best consideration” application date.
• IN COMING MONTHS: You may have heard that Dr. Janet Gullickson, president of Germanna Community College, based in Fredericksburg (located between Washington, D.C., and Richmond), has announced her retirement as of July 2025. Please watch for more details on that presidential search in coming months.
