Rep. Jon Patterson, the Speaker of the Missouri House (a fellow KCMO Housing Provider) who led the legislative body as they passed our historic & critical business-saving Source of Income ban this year, is running for state Senate.

Many don’t realize that we also got a couple of other wins in the bill (preventing reductions in security deposits & banning Tenants’ Right of First Refusal when owners sell their properties).

We always talk about what we need to do to positively impact legislation early on. This is great opportunity – instead of focusing on the resistant KCMO City Council. ☺️

Since Jon is now running for the Senate, and needs as many donations as possible before the 12/31/25 deadline, let’s spread the word to our peers. We’ll need strong voices and protectors of private property rights like him who know us and will work with us in the Senate next term, as he has in the MO state House.

We are also building our National Housing Provider Coalition (NHPC) to do the same – nationwide. Our goal is to meet once a month with our next Zoom meeting on Thursday, January 22nd at 12:00pm (Central Standard Time).

Our goal is to be a collective group of organizations & individuals joining together to address rental property issues in our industry.

We will be tracking & addressing the negative impact of new/trending rental policies/laws as the primary voice representing us – from small to large individual investors & organizations.

Our goal is to preserve property rights across the country by sharing, monitoring and fighting “Tenant Protection Laws” (where we can’t prevent them).

We’ll make sure fellow housing providers are aware of these laws to stay in compliance, as well.

In Missouri, we will host a local congressman (Rep. Mark Alford) and regional Housing & Urban Development (HUD) officials & other federal and MO+KS state elected officials for a listening session locally on February 6th to share the barriers we face in our housing businesses (including legislative) and work towards solutions to overcome them.

Our KC Regional Housing Alliance group will be hosting monthly or every-other-month meetings so that we can regularly check in on current market conditions, legislation & also prepare to support or defeat pending legislation.

We represent all of the local rental housing groups in MO & KS.
