Assembly Of Glory Church Pastor Abel Dossou Sognon -- Testimony

Pastor Abel Dossou Sognon was born in Dekanmin, Benin ( West Africa ), the oldest son of an animist priest.

After a tumultuous childhood, Abel accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in 1985 at a Youth for Christ crusade in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, and was baptized in 1987 in the Assembly of God church in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Hearing the call of God on his life, Dossou entered bible school and began ministering at the age of 19. In 1993, Dossou's mother was stricken with paralysis. The Holy Spirit spoke wit

h Abel, instructing him to pray for his mother. But he must receive permission from his father to do so. His father, at this time, was still a leader within the animist community. After speaking with his father, he was given permission to pray for his mother - with one condition. If Dossou prayed and his mother was not healed, he was to abandon Jesus, and return to animism. Dossou agreed, but replied, " When Jesus heals my mother, I want the whole family to follow Jesus". The next day, Abel begins three days of prayers for his mother's healing. On the third day, he falls asleep, very tired. He awakens to hear screams of excitement. His mama is not in the room. His mother had awakened, and gotten up to use the bathroom. When she realized it was not a dream, and that she had actually walked, she began dancing with excitement. She reported seeing a glowing figure in white, who commanded to her, " My daughter, come with me". She loudly and emphatically proclaimed the name of Jesus as her Lord and Savior. When the rest of the family learned of the miracle, they also gave their lives to Jesus. His family continues to follow Jesus to this day.
