Dedicated, passionate, and community-minded! This week at the Kids Feeding Kids Summer Educator Institute in Cedar Lake, our newest cohort of teachers invested their time in hands-on professional development. The result? They are ready to bring standards-aligned, real-world, service-learning experiences to their classrooms! 🧑‍🍳✨

Hosting an event like this takes a village, and we had the best village leader in Courtney Pesha, along with the wonderful support of Hanover Central High School. Thank you for your unmatched hospitality!

We also want to give a special shout out to our funders; your support directly empowers these teachers to fight food insecurity and food waste through education.

It’s a wrap!

Education Director Diane Mora just completed the first of four 2026 Summer Educator Institutes.

Teachers met for 3 days in Salina KS to review Kids Feeding Kids content and complete one of our recipes, in preparation for implementing the program in their classrooms this fall.

Did you know that "fear of liability" is one of the biggest reasons good food ends up in landfills? 🚛🍎

This Earth Week, we’re highlighting Ally, whose research with local food providers identified a massive gap in how we understand food donation laws.

By connecting the dots between food waste and food insecurity, Ally helped launch Write to Nourish, engaging students with food system and policy research and providing tools to amplify their voices.

When we empower students, we nourish families and protect our planet. 🌎✨
