We are getting ready!!! First for and more importantly for feeding our community partners for . We are so excited about our partnerships across the city but we are elated about the support has given us in distributing these meals next week. We are putting our best foot forward to get as many meals out as our team can supply. Thank you to everyone who supports us!

Creating healthy meals with ugly produce for folks in need is what we do!

In the service industry, "Family Meal" is the meal that is prepared for the staff before a busy day to ensure everyone in the "family" is nourished and connected before the shift.

Kansas City is our home; our family. As chefs, the idea that our family is going hungry while food goes to waste is simply not ok.

Today we took in 3200 #’s of produce at that was sorted by our chefs and weighed by . This produce is used in our program, in Kanbe’s Healthy Corner stores, and donated across the metro to underserved communities.

Meet Brandon Winn, our founder and Program Manager. He was formerly the Executive Chef of Room 39 and Webster House and has been chef’n for 15 years. He focuses on building relationships with local growers and sustaining the local food market. After noticing the severity of food insecurity in KC, he partnered with and to maintain our operation. He’s been dedicated to our project for the last 6 months and is the glue to our pieces!!

Meals on meals on meals! Packaging up 150 servings of penne, cauliflower, broccoli, carmelized onions, and smoked peppers in a cheddar tomato sauce for our partner , who will deliver the meals to senior centers.

The sun was shining on us today while sorting and washing produce for the 1100 meals we have going out in the next two days! Once we moved inside we made a few salads for one of our community partners as well.

Hey everyone, we are KC Family Meal!

We are a team of culinary pros working to feed hungry folks here in Kansas City. We have found ourselves out of our regular kitchens -because Covid- but still wanting to feed people. In the restaurant, a "family meal" is the staff meal everyone shares before service to make sure that everyone is fed and connected before the shift. This meal is created from ingredients not pretty enough for service but that are still nourishing (and delicious!)

We've scaled up this theory to tackle our broken food system and the problems it creates for your neighbors with limited healthy food accessibility. We rescue ugly or surplus produce from our partners and create nutrient-dense meals for underserved communities in the KC Metro Area. With our rockstar staff we're creating about 4,000 meals a week out of our mighty food truck, Ethyl and with our monster smoker!

Ethyl is currently anchored in the parking lot of Kanbe's Markets. We've been working together for the last eight months to get all this amazing food to the right people. Another non-profit, The Prospect Urban Eatery, helps fundraise and expand community connections.
