Chouteau Heritage Fountain Honoring Kansas City, Missouri's earliest commerce -- a trading post along the Missouri river -- and those who founded it.

Francois Chouteau and members of two local Native American tribes established the first trading post along the bluffs of the Missouri River in what would eventually become the City of Kansas City, Missouri. Much of Kansas City's initial history began on the northern riverbank where today's Chouteau Trafficway intersects with the Missouri River. A group of community-minded individuals shared a visi

on to create an educational and historical destination that would honor our City's humble beginnings and forever commemorate Francois Chouteau and the Native American heritage that gave birth to Kansas City as a multicultural trade capital of the heartland. In the fall of 2016, the Chouteau Heritage Fountain Founders will launch a $1.66 million capital campaign to fund the fountain and sculptures by renowned artist Kwan Wu.
