Spent a few days this week at a local elementary school talking about aviation careers. Pre-K to 5th graders, all with excellent questions and wonderful curiosity about what jobs look like! our Development Director had a blast sharing the mission and love for with all the students!

Big news!!

Kansas City is about to level up its aviation game. The Downtown Airport is getting a 55 million dollar upgrade, and the last twenty acres of open land at MKC are officially spoken for. Airside Innovation Missouri will build a new Apex Aero Center FBO, a 15,000 square foot terminal and more than 150,000 square feet of new hangar, office and maintenance space.

This is a big move for business and general aviation, but the real win is the expansion of Red Tail Academy. More training, more access and more pathways for underrepresented KC youth to get into aviation, from mechanical work to the cockpit.

Construction is expected to begin in 2026 with completion in 2027. KC’s aviation future keeps getting louder.

We were proud to accept a very generous donation from Garver Engineering at our open house last weekend. Garver has been a steadfast supporter of youth aviation and to our programs for over 5 years. Thank you for your continued service to our community!!

We had the opportunity to participate in Fleetwood Elementary School’s (Raytown, MO) career day earlier this week. The 3rd, 4th and 5th graders in attendance were simply amazing! They were very attentive, asked insightful questions and brought lots of energy and enthusiasm. Big thanks to principal Mellisa Glasco for the invitation. Looking forward to another visit!!
