Local 73 shop members at Woodside Industries ratified a historic collective agreement with Irving Shipbuilding. The company, understanding how inflation, retention and recruitment of qualified skilled tradespersons is affecting the industry, came to the bargaining table with a fair offer. One highlight of the four-year agreement includes a 39.6% wage increase.

Today, we'd like to recognize L-614 (New London, Connecticut), retiring Business Manager of 18 years Frank Ward, for his dedication to the brotherhood. He was passionate about the Boilermakers LEAP Program and his work with the shipyards. Today is , recognizing the launch of the maritime industry in the United States.

in the shipbuilding and marine construction sector have long built some of the world’s finest military, merchant and specialty ships. Our members contributed mightily to the war effort during WWI and WWII, building hundreds of combat and Liberty transport ships: https://boilermakers.org/about/industries/shipbuilding

Boilermakers Local 92 (Los Angeles) and Boilermakers Local No. 549 (Pittsburg, CA) came out in full force to ensure their members’ voices were heard at the California State Capitol. They were part of a larger labor coalition lobbying elected officials on behalf of the Annual Joint Legislative Conference to promote workers’ right to high-wage jobs and union protections. ✊
