Please join us in congratulating Donna Mueller on her retirement and an incredible career in the credit industry!

She has been in credit for approximately 40 years and has been a member of NACM Heartland for about 15 of those years. Donna advises anyone starting in the credit industry on the importance of getting involved with colleagues, networking, and ongoing education to help develop relationships that are crucial to long-term success.

She also strongly supports participation in groups, noting that they are essential for sharing information you can’t get anywhere else. Keeping up with industry updates, customer trends, and best practices through group involvement has been invaluable throughout her career.

We asked Donna a few additional questions:

How has being a part of NACM Heartland in general benefited you over the years? I have made long-term friends and colleagues that I relied on for help and gave help in return if needed. I appreciated the education to keep updated on trends, current economic issues, etc. It helps to be able to determine what you might need to do in your own department to keep on track with parameters needed to have the most efficient processes in addition to mitigating risk.

What are you most looking forward to in retirement? I have worked for 52 years and just looking forward to not having a daily job to report to. I have been so fortunate to love my job for all of those years and can’t imagine not working yet, but will give it a good try! I am looking forward to spending more time with several hobbies, my grandchildren, travel and possibly pursuing some passions I was not able to before.

Congratulations, Donna! Your decades of dedication and wisdom have made a lasting impact on NACM Heartland and the credit community.

Please join us in congratulating Dan Houk as he wraps up his career as Assistant Manager at Munn Lumber and begins a well-earned retirement.

Dan spent 20 years with Munn Lumber, 15 of which were dedicated to the credit business. During that time, he was an active participant in NACM’s Construction Group for nearly a decade, where he valued the opportunity to connect with other credit professionals in the same industry.

When asked for advice for those starting in credit, Dan emphasized the importance of learning from peers:

“Join a credit group like NACM. You can learn so much faster from people who are in the credit business than you can trying to figure it out on your own. You have people to learn recommended procedures and policies from. I most valued meeting other credit professionals in the same industry and being able to discuss and share information confidentially.”

As for what’s next, Dan looks forward to spending more time with his wife, traveling, and seeing his granddaughter more often.

Congratulations, Dan! Your expertise, guidance, and presence will be greatly missed.
