👻 KANSAS GHOST STORIES: THE SALLIE HOUSE 👻
Welcome to a new series from TSPS (The Signing Paranormal Seekers)!
As a paranormal team based in Kansas, we want to shine a light on some of the ghost stories, haunted locations, and eerie legends from our own state.
Starting now, we’ll be sharing one Kansas ghost story every week!
And what better way to begin than with one of Kansas’s most infamous haunted locations: the Sallie House in Atchison, Kansas.
THE LEGEND OF SALLIE
According to local legend, a young girl named Sallie was brought to a physician’s home suffering from severe abdominal pain. The doctor reportedly diagnosed appendicitis and attempted emergency surgery before the anesthesia had fully taken effect. Tragically, the girl died during the operation.
Years later, in 1993, a young couple moved into the house and began reporting disturbing experiences. The husband allegedly suffered unexplained scratches and abrasions, objects seemed to move on their own, and strange cold spots appeared throughout the home.
Some believe the spirit of little Sallie still wanders the house. Others wonder whether something far more sinister is hiding behind the childlike presence.
The Sallie House went on to attract paranormal investigators and media attention from across the country, cementing its reputation as one of Kansas’s most notorious haunted locations.
But what really lies behind the legend? Is it the spirit of a little girl, something darker, or a story that has grown over time?
