Brazil – The Pisadeira

This week is Brazil.

The Pisadeira is a frightening figure from Brazilian folklore, traditionally described as an old woman with long hair, long fingernails, and a terrifying appearance.

According to legend, she waits on rooftops at night for someone to fall asleep with a very full stomach. Once they do, she enters their dreams and sits on their chest, leaving them unable to move or breathe properly.

Sound familiar?

The story is often interpreted as an old folkloric explanation for sleep paralysis—a frightening experience in which someone wakes up unable to move and may experience hallucinations.

But folklore has its own explanation…

Maybe it isn’t sleep paralysis.

Maybe the Pisadeira is sitting on your chest.

Ireland – The Banshee

Our next stop is Ireland.

The Banshee is one of the world’s most famous ghostly figures. Rather than harming people directly, she is known as a harbinger of death.

According to Irish folklore, the Banshee appears before the death of a family member, letting out a haunting cry that echoes through the night. Witnesses have described her as either an elderly woman with long white hair or a beautiful young woman dressed in flowing garments.

Hearing the Banshee’s wail is said to be a warning that someone will soon pass away.

A Message from Noah, founder and leader
An update regarding our biggest project, 'Ghosts of Atchison'

For those who don't know, we're creating a documentary series about the hauntings in Atchison. So far, we've investigated and filmed at two locations: the McInteer Villa and the Sallie House.

Originally, the series was supposed to be released last October, but it was postponed.

It's still very much in the works. We're continuing to film and edit, and it will be released when it's ready.

However, a couple of months ago, something happened. As most of you know, the McInteer Villa was sold. Due to concerns about the new ownership and management, we've decided not to return to the villa.

We had planned to go back to the McInteer Villa to finish filming for the project, but now we're unsure how to proceed.

We still have the Sallie House, and we plan to return there. However, that's currently the only location we can continue investigating.

After much thought, I believe the project will be reworked into something a little different. It will still focus on the ghosts of Atchison, but the story will take a different direction from the original plan.

There is no release date yet, but we'll continue to keep you updated as the project moves forward. We still have a lot to share, and we can't wait for you to see what we've captured in Atchison. Stay tuned!

The Dayan

This week’s spirit takes us to India.

The Dayan is one of the most feared supernatural beings in Indian folklore. Often described as the spirit of a woman who died under tragic or unjust circumstances. A Dayan is believed to wander villages at night seeking revenge or feeding on the life force of the living.

Legends say a Dayan can disguise herself as a beautiful young woman, making it difficult to recognize her true nature. Some stories claim her feet face backward. It’s a sign that she is not human.

For centuries, tales of the Dayan have been shared across India as warnings to avoid traveling alone after dark.
