I am beyond proud to call myself an American today on the 250th birthday of the United States of America. It is such a privilege to live in the land of the free and home of the brave. Thank you to all of those who have sacrificed to keep the American Dream alive.

As this week has come to an end, I want to say thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey to Miss North Carolina.

I didn’t realize just how many people truly loved and believed in me until this week. While I may not be coming home with a crown, I can confidently say I am leaving with something far more meaningful. I am walking away knowing that someone now feels a little less alone during one of the most difficult seasons of their life and that is a reward no title could ever replace.

This past year through the Miss America Opportunity has been a beautiful reminder that my daddy is still with me, and I know he would be proud of the young woman I’ve become. As you grow older, losing a parent doesn’t get easier, it simply changes. Their absence is felt in different ways, but their love never leaves you.

I am beyond grateful for the friendships I’ve gained through the Miss North Carolina sisterhood and for the opportunity to serve my community in ways I never imagined. I truly believe God has a purpose for every season of our lives, and sometimes His plans look different than the ones we had written for ourselves. Looking back, I wouldn’t trade this year for anything because it has shaped me into the person I am today.

Thank you to the Miss Morganton Scholarship Organization for believing in me over the past two years and for helping me grow into a stronger, more confident version of myself.

As I step into a new chapter, I can’t thank God enough for every lesson, every opportunity, and every person He has placed in my life through the Miss America Opportunity.

Congratulations to the new Miss North Carolina Lauryn Mallard. Lauryn, you have a servant heart and I can’t wait to watch you at Miss America.

Here’s to new beginnings, trusting His timing, and embracing whatever comes next. 💖

Today I had the privilege of receiving the “Pivot to Purpose” Educational Scholarship at the Miss North Carolina Educational Scholarship Fund awards ceremony. I don’t share this story often but my first two years of college were some of the hardest moments of my life and there were many days I needed my mom to encourage me to leave my apartment. At 18 years old I moved 16hrs to Oklahoma to pursue a career and degree in Dance Performance. I didn’t know that in just a short few months my dreams would he crushed as I was told I would never be successful as a dancer. In March of 2024 I decided to transfer to The University of Oklahoma, not knowing a single other student. While at The University of Oklahoma I majored in Health and Exercise Science while also pursuing a minor in Dance History. Although my time was short at the The University of Oklahoma, I found my love for healthcare and decided I wanted to become a Physician Assistant. Transferring colleges was one of the hardest decisions I have ever faced but God lead me to exactly where I needed to be at the right time. Receiving this scholarship meant more than anything to me, it reminded me that God’s plan always unveils itself. I am beyond blessed and can’t explain how much this scholarship meant to me.

Preliminary night two is one for the books! I can’t thank God enough for giving me peace throughout my dance routine tonight. The most rewarding gift of tonight was knowing that I shared my story and made my daddy proud. I am beyond thankful for the Miss North Carolina Org. for this amazing week and for my village that constantly supports me. Can’t wait for preliminary number three tomorrow!!💚💕

Tonight, I get to dance one of the most meaningful dance routines I have ever choreographed. When I was deciding what I wanted my Miss North Carolina talent to be, I knew I wanted it to be a reminder of my “why” and just how importance Beyond The Ribbon is. Tonight as I dance Foot Prints in the Sand, I can only hope to make my daddy proud and for all those who have lost a loved one to know they are never alone.🎗️🤍

Prelim night one!!

What a night to remember, I am a firm believer everything happens for a reason. Despite the power outage the Miss North Carolina Organization persevered. Competing my on stage question last night was one to remember, while standing backstage I prayed that God would allow my story to be told and that my dad would be proud of me. It meant the world to be able to tell the audience and everyone watching that no matter what cancer diagnosis you may receive nobody is truthfully ever alone. As we enter a crazy busy day full of two preliminary competitions due to last nights competition being cancelled, I can’t help but think of how God so often calms the storms. Knowing that no matter what situations arise God truthfully allows peace and comfort when we trust in Him🩵

It’s hard to believe that I have officially interviewed for the title of Miss North Carolina….when I began my journey towards the crown I wanted to be remembered by one thing and that was my authenticity. I wanted the judges to know that the same Zoe who stands before them in the interview is the same person who will walk into a school visit and be a light to those around them. God has worked in mysterious ways this year and I am fully trusting in Him. No matter the outcome I am beyond proud of the young woman I have become thanks to the Miss America Opportunity.❤️

As GracieLou Freebush says “it’s not a beauty pageant it’s a scholarship program”. The Miss North Carolina Scholarship Organization is far from a regular beauty pageant it awards thousands of scholarship dollars to help young women to purse their dreams. I am honored to be apart of such an amazing opportunity that is helping achieve my dream.
