What an incredible time at the Charlotte Thanksgiving Eve Parade! 🎅🏴‍☠️🎉

The Oasis Buccaneers were proud to represent the Oasis Shriners Temple and, most importantly, the life-changing mission of Shriners Children’s Hospitals. We also had the pleasure of hosting Miss South Carolina aboard the pirate ship, which made the evening even more special.

From the smiles along the parade route to the energy of the crowd, it was an unforgettable celebration of community, tradition, and giving back.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support the parade and cheer us on. Moments like these remind us why we proudly wear the fez and continue to serve—fun with a purpose.

Happy Holidays from all of us at Oasis Buccaneers! 🎄❤️

Endurance: The Remarkable Recovery of Shackleton's Legendary Ship from the Antarctic Abyss

Deep in the icy heart of the Weddell Sea, Antarctica, a century-old mystery has been unveiled. The famed vessel Endurance, central to Sir Ernest Shackleton’s ill-fated 1914 expedition, has been discovered in astonishingly pristine condition after more than 100 years beneath the ice.

In 1914, Shackleton launched the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition with the bold goal of crossing the continent coast to coast. But by early 1915, the Endurance was trapped in the crushing grip of the Weddell Sea’s pack ice. After months of strain, on November 21, 1915, the ship succumbed to the relentless pressure, splintered, and sank—leaving Shackleton and his crew stranded in one of the harshest places on Earth.

What followed became one of history’s greatest survival stories. Through sheer grit, courage, and Shackleton’s extraordinary leadership, the crew endured unimaginable hardships: starvation, freezing temperatures, and isolation. Against all odds, every crew member survived—a lasting testament to human resilience and the indomitable will to live.

Now, the rediscovery of the Endurance serves as both a breathtaking archaeological find and a powerful reminder of the expedition’s legacy.

On This Date in History – September 23, 1779

A defining moment in American naval tradition unfolded during the Revolutionary War when the American warship Bonhomme Richard, under the command of Captain John Paul Jones, faced off against the more powerful and better-equipped British warship, HMS Serapis.

The battle was brutal. The Bonhomme Richard was battered, on fire, and rapidly taking on water. Seeing the dire state of the American ship, British Captain Richard Pearson called out, asking if Jones was ready to surrender.

From the deck of his sinking vessel, Jones famously declared: “I have not yet begun to fight!”

Jones then ordered his crew to lash the Bonhomme Richard to the Serapis, forcing the fight into brutal, close-quarters combat. After hours of intense battle, against all odds, Jones and his men overpowered the British and claimed victory. Though the Bonhomme Richard eventually sank, Jones took command of the Serapis, securing one of the most legendary triumphs in U.S. naval history.

This remarkable victory against overwhelming odds endures as a symbol of American spirit, courage, and resolve.

It was a privilege to join our fellow miscreants from 5 different temples at Shriners Hospital for Children in Greenville S.C. Days like this softens this ol' salty sea dog.
