Congratulations to Julianna Gomez, a 6th grade student from Grant Park CUSD #6, for winning the Iroquois-Kankakee Regional Office of Education's Life Education Center Wise Highs Billboard Design Contest!
Julianna was presented her award by Lori Mollema, Director of the Life Education Center, last Thursday. Her classmates, current and former teachers and principals, and family were also present to help her celebrate the honor.
Julianna’s billboard design, "You and Me Could Be Ni****ne Free." will be displayed through the month of November on Court Street, in Kankakee, just west of McDonald’s.

What does prevention actually do?

Prevention works by building up the things that help protect us—and reducing the things that can put us at greater risk.

That can happen at many levels:

🏠 In families
🏫 In schools
🤝 In communities
❤️ In healthcare and mental health settings
🌱 Through youth-serving organizations and other community partners

Strong relationships, supportive environments, positive connections and opportunities to succeed all have a role to play.

And prevention works best when we work together.

There is room for all of us at the table. What role can you play in prevention?
