🇺🇸 Aroma Park American Legion Post 1019 Sends a Huge Thank You! 🇺🇸

Aroma Park American Legion Post 1019 would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Industrial Arts Teacher and Coach Mike Mosier and his talented students at Herscher High School for constructing the beautiful new bench shown here as part of this year’s woodshop class.

The bench is now proudly displayed outside our Post for members, guests, and customers to enjoy for years to come.

In addition, the students built a second bench, finished in a gray stain, for our upcoming Cash Bash fundraiser. That bench will be raffled off during the event this Saturday.

It is great to see students continuing to learn valuable hands-on skills and schools continuing to support Industrial Arts education. Programs like these help develop craftsmanship, work ethic, and pride in a job well done.

Outstanding work, Herscher High School, Coach Mosier, and all of the students involved! Thank you for your hard work, and support of our veterans and community.

Respectfully,

Brian C. Peters
Sr. Vice Commander / Finance Officer
Aroma Park American Legion Post 1019 🇺🇸

Just one raffles for Saturday’s Cash Bash - Thank you, Nichols Paint & Fab in Watseka for this beautiful waving flag.

🇺🇸 A Thank You to an Unknown Good Samaritan in St. Anne 🇺🇸

Yesterday, an elderly veteran traveling from Salem, Indiana, to Des Moines, Iowa, found himself in a difficult situation. Low on fuel, short on food, and needing a safe place to rest for the night, he stopped in our area seeking help.

Fortunately, he crossed paths with a public works employee who was painting roadway lines in the area. Whether this individual works for the Village of St. Anne, a township road district, Kankakee County, or another agency, we may never know. What we do know is that this person took the time to listen, care, and point this veteran in the direction of Aroma Park American Legion Post 1019.

Because of that simple act of kindness, the veteran was welcomed at our Post, where Commander Don Zack, Sr. Vice Commander Brian Peters, and Sons of the American Legion Commander Corey Pasel learned of his circumstances. Our kitchen prepared him a hot meal, arrangements were made for a hotel room in Bradley-Bourbonnais, and assistance was provided to help him continue his journey with fuel and food.

Today, we want to thank that unknown employee. You saw a veteran in need and didn't look the other way. Instead, you connected him with people who could help. Your compassion made all the difference.

This is what the American Legion is all about—veterans helping veterans, neighbors helping neighbors, and communities coming together when someone needs a hand. Sometimes the greatest acts of service aren't grand gestures; they're simply taking a moment to care.

To the employee who sent this veteran our way: thank you. Your kindness reminds us that there are still good people looking out for one another every day.

The Sons of the American Legion Post 1019 are having their fish fry this evening. Everyone wanted it to come back, so they decided to do it one more time before the summer days hit us. So, please come out and support the Sons this evening.
