KBay Asymca

KBay Asymca The Armed Services YMCA of Honolulu’s free or low-cost programs are designed to improve quality of life for junior enlisted personnel, spouses and children.

The ASYMCA Early Childhood Education programs are designed to respond to the increasing needs of military families with young children. We strive to provide a loving, caring atmosphere that will foster each child’s feeling of autonomy, positive self-image, and a love for learning. Parent Participation Preschool (PPP) is a program that allows parents to help their children ages 3 through 5 transiti

on from home to school while working side by side in a fun, structured environment. We currently offer two PPP sessions: Honu Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00-11:00 a.m $130 month and Pueo Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00-11:00 a.m $80/month. Playmorning is a structured play environment that provides learning readiness activities. Parents and children enjoy a morning of crafts, games, music, and stories. Playmorning is for children 0-5 years old, and is offered Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:30-11 a.m. Cost: $2 per non-infant child each day you attend. The Early Learning Readiness Opihi program provides a stimulating environment to hel children (0- 5 years) develop the physical, verbal, and social skills which they'll need to be school-ready. Caregivers will learn how children develop and how to encourage skill building at home. Monthly Tuition $20/month

Kids in the Kitchen is a fun and creative way to introduce children to healthy eating, assisting with cooking, and kitchen safety. Reading and singing about the themes of the food prepared helps to promote literacy. Music and movement is used to promote healthy habits and choices. Operation Hero is an award-winning afterschool program that targets military children 6 to 12 years of age who have been identified by teachers, counselors, or parents as exhibiting low self-esteem, or who have difficulty adjusting, both academically and socially, to the school environment. Oftentimes, these difficulties can be attributed to frequent moves and family disruption due to deployments. The curriculum is designed to help children cope with the challenges of military life, provide tools to help them succeed in school, and assist them in developing a positive self-image while improving communication skills. AS YMCA Kbay currently offers Operation Hero at Mokapu Elementary School on MCBH. Please contact us at 254-4719 with any questions or to sign your child up for the program. Operation Kid Comfort is a program that provides FREE custom-made quilts and pillows for children of deployed military personnel. The quilts and pillows are designed with photos of the deployed service member and helps to comfort children while their parent is away. The Children’s Waiting Room (CWR) provides onsite childcare for healthy children while their parents or siblings have medical appointments at Tripler Medical Center or in any of the Schofield Clinics. There is an $8/family flat rate fee each time you visit. Tripler Medical Center CWR is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Call 433-3270 for appointments.
