Join us this HULI25 and support our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at the Women's Community Correctional Center on O'ahu.
Project Koa Yoga and Hawai'i Yoga Institute are annual partners for this teacher training. Spring 2026 will be our 3rd cohort in the women's prison. Each graduate completes the same curriculum and coursework as our program on the "outside" and is certified with a 200-hour yoga teacher training certification. After training is completed, they become apprentices of PKY, where they earn income while incarcerated, as well as the ability to teach trauma-informed yoga with their peers. Based on the testimony of past graduates, the training and apprenticeship is "life-changing!"
Our intention with this program and collaboration is to reduce recidivism for some of the most marginalized women in Hawai'i by teaching skills that can support personal mental health and wellness, 'ohana and community health and wellness, and, if desired, be turned into income earning opportunities.
This month we are looking to raise $16,000 to support this program from printing manuals, providing all props and books, and paying our instructors from March-June. Increase your impact and join us this GivingTuesday (and through Dec 31) by donating through HULI25. Make sure to select Project Koa Yoga when making your donation.
