Day 2 of our Huakaʻi Waiheʻe started off with a walking tour of Kapoho and a morning session at the base of Mauna ʻihi at the hālau waʻa of Kealakaʻihonua. There students connected with HANONA who shared mele ʻāina, cultural practices, and the restoration stories tied to this significant place. From there we headed to the loʻi of Paeloko with ʻOhana ʻAiwohi, where students learned the moʻolelo of Maui and other legendary kāʻao and worked hard clearing nearly three patches of weeds! 🌿 After all that hard work, the sun came out just in time for students to head back to camp, clean up, and jump in the ocean. 🌊 A huge mahalo to everyone who made these two days unforgettable. Until next time! ⛺️🤙🏾
