This photo of the Kanab Fire Department from 1952 is a reminder of the proud tradition of volunteerism that has protected our community for generations. Their commitment, sacrifice, and willingness to serve helped build the strong fire department Kanab has today.

That tradition continues, and we're looking for the next generation of volunteers. This October, the Kanab City Fire Department will be hosting a Hazardous Materials Operations (HazMat Ops) class right here in Kanab.

If you've ever considered volunteering, now is the perfect time to get started. Call 435-899-8389 to speak with one of our firefighters and learn how you can volunteer with the Kanab City Fire Department.

On Saturday, February 28, 2026, Kanab City Fire Department and Fredonia Fire Department held a live fire training exercise in Fredonia. This exercise involved the incredible teamwork of both full-time staff and our amazing volunteers, and was a great learning experience for everyone. Special thanks to Chief Johnson, Chief Pierson and Carmen Savala-Bradley for making this happen!

Also, thanks to Scott King for providing these images.
