Concert in the Park this Saturday at Riverfront Park! 6-8 p.m. June 13. The Wildgrass String Band plays a bluegrassy mix of old time favorites and new time melodies that will satisfy the dancer and spectator alike. Maggie Keefe (also of The Chelseas fame) rolls out compelling mando-melodies and rhythms; Angus Hughs picks out a storm on that jumbo that'll keep you spinnin' and howlin'; and Dave Vollmer will give y'all a place to land with that bass fiddle. Come on out and see us - we are lookin' forward to playin' for you!

Just a reminder that we are kicking off a month of ornament-making for the Capitol Christmas tree tomorrow with gourd ornaments! Artist Aya Rachael-Hale will guide us in creating with gourds. This class is free and no registration required. 10 am-noon Saturday, June 6

We are honored to sponsor Teresa Shelton in Art & Soul of the Magic Valley, in Twin Falls. Her piece is beaded from “thousands of tiny glass seed beads painstakingly stitched together, one by one, to create this unique wearable art necklace. The Arrowleaf Balsamroot (Balsamorhiza sagittata) flower is one of the first Spring wildflowers to grow on the hillsides of the Clearwater River in North Central Idaho. This cheery flower is in the same family as the sunflower and has been traditionally used as a source of food and medicine.” Teresa also teaches beading at River Arts and led the TOHO Beads Peace Ring project. Cathy Searle has beaded 27 feet for the international TOHO Peace Ring Project! Marvelous work, Cathy!

The goal of the TOHO Peace Ring Project is to bring Peace and connect people, one bead, and one link at a time. The hope is for people all around the globe to come together to bead a mile long chain which will be installed at the Mall of America in Bloomington, MN on August 6, 2026 (a Day of Peace in Japan, where TOHO Beads are made). This is an important Date in Japanese Culture and one that carries significant meaning for both The US and Japan. The word bead has its roots meaning “to pray”. We held an in-studio session on April 18 and many have continued to bead at home. The deadline to turn in your beaded peace rings to River Arts is Saturday, June 13. Teresa Keygirl
