June Monthly Grant #2
Hope For Horses – Virginia

After the Finish Line awarded Hope For Horses a grant for $2,500 for Fly a Fantasy. They received a grant for a lameness exam, bloodwork, radiographs, ultrasounds, endoscopy, gastroscopy, and hospitalization. She had tie-back surgery, kissing spine with spinal cysts, gastric ulcers, irritable bowel disease, lameness in the left hind limb and mild neurologic impairment in her hind end.

The precise origin of Fly a Fantasy's conditions cannot be determined with certainty, as the onset of all were prior to her arrival at Hope for Horses. There was no treatment plan that would resolve or manage her conditions to a standard that would provide her with a comfortable, sustainable quality of life. Sadly, due to the diagnostic findings, they had to make the very hard decision to humanely euthanize Fly a Fantasy.

Hope For Horses is a rehabilitation and retraining program rooted in horsemanship education, responsible placement, and long-term horse welfare to advance ethical horse ownership and aftercare advocacy. They are committed to honoring every horse that comes through their program with the care and dignity they have earned.

Fly a Fantasy arrived at Hope For Horses in March of 2026. This five-year-old chestnut mare was bred in California. She raced at Santa Anita Park, Pleasanton, and Del Mar from April 2023 to January 2025 in allowance, claiming and Black Type Stakes races. In 9 Starts she earned $64,470 with 1 First, 1 Second, 1 Third.

June Monthly Grant #1
Hidden Pond Farm Equine Rescue-New Hampshire

After the Finish Line awarded Hidden Pond Farm Equine Rescue a grant for $2,070. They rescued Off Track Thoroughbreds Djinn Slippers and Americainaed from a dealer in New York last March. This grant is for two months of extended quarantine (they are too weak to travel), farrier, dental, a vet exam, f***l parasite exam and wormer for each OTTB.

Thank you to the Town Fair Tire Foundation for awarding us a grant to support Off Track Thoroughbreds at aftercare organizations in New England.

The aftercare’s mission is to rescue horses in need, rehabilitate them, and find permanent homes. They educate visitors, volunteers, donors, and prospective adopters about how horses can wind up in the slaughter pipeline, and how to avoid such a tragedy. They acquire horses from owner surrenders, they purchase OTTBs at auctions and they buy them from dealers at the Unadilla auction in NY.

Learn about Djinn Slippers and Americainaed in the caption with their photos.

Yesterday was Harley's Sweet 16 and oh boy, what a party he had! He sure liked his cake. Monnie's admiration and special relationship with Harley is beautiful to see. I can tell you first hand that even though his size can be intimidating, he is a gentle giant.

Harley painted Moneighs for ReRun Thoroughbred Adoption and After the Finish Line last year at Keeneland. What fun we had! His Moneigh prints, as well as RIP's, are available for purchase at ebay.com/str/rerunthoroughbred.

Visit Moneighs for Rerun to see all of our prints.

May Monthly Grant #4
The Homestretch Thoroughbred Rescue

After the Finish Line awarded The Homestretch Thoroughbred Rescue a grant for $2,000 for 285 square bales of hay for six Off Track Thoroughbreds.

Their original mission was to save OTTB’s from auction so they would not be shipped to slaughter. There are no Thoroughbred racetracks in Tennessee, yet many are sold in the State’s auctions. They also work with estates, owners and trainers. All horses adopted through their rescue are welcomed back. They currently care for six Off Track Thoroughbreds.

May Monthly Grant #3
Aftercare Charles Town – West Virginia

After the Finish Line awarded Aftercare Charles Town (ACT) a grant for $2,150. One month of board and farrier will be granted for Triple Bad and two months of board and farrier will be granted for Unified Weekend. Farrier includes one set of front shoes and rear trims.

ACT assists Charles Town horsemen in securing safe and appropriate aftercare homes for their retired racehorses by paying stipends for horses accepted into the programs of their placement partner organizations for adoption. These organizations then find approved and well vetted adoptive homes. Responsible aftercare provides a lifetime safety net for these horses as well as providing a vital service to the horsemen. Since 2014, ACT has assisted over 500 horses from over 100 different owners and trainers at Charles Town.

Information about each Off Track Thoroughbred is posted with their photo.

May Monthly Grant #2
Equestrian Inc. Equine Rescue

After the Finish Line awarded Equestrian Inc. a grant for $2,000 to support Going in Style. He is recovering from a sesamoid fracture. ATFL will grant for X-rays and Shockwave treatment at this time in addition to his next set of X-rays, and Shockwave treatment. We will also include four farrier trims (corrective shoeing) and one month of hay for their herd of eight Off Track Thoroughbreds.

Going in Style retired from Tampa Bay Downs in January 2026 due to his injury. He had 48 Starts from August 2022 – July 2025 earning $226,424 with 8 Firsts, 10 Seconds and 7 Thirds. Going in Style raced at Prairie Meadows, Fonner Park, Will Rogers, Mahoning Valley, Thistledown, Monmouth Park, Belmont Park, and Aqueduct.

He requires ongoing veterinary care to return to long-term soundness and a quality of life. Recovery from the sesamoid fracture is encouraging. Continued diagnostics and therapeutic treatments are essential to properly monitor the healing progression and improve the likelihood of a healthy alternative career.

The recommended treatment plan includes:
*Follow-up radiographs to evaluate bone healing and rehabilitation progress.
*Shockwave therapy treatments to support healing, reduce inflammation, and improve comfort during recovery.
*Continuous rehabilitative shoeing to ensure that he has every opportunity for a comfortable and productive life after racing.

Going In Style has a strong chance at a successful recovery to be a low-level trail/pleasure or companion horse.

May Monthly Grant #1
Rerun Thoroughbred Adoption – New York

After the Finish Line awarded Rerun Thoroughbred Adoption a grant for $2,000 for Pazz the Soy Sauce. He will have surgery to remove bone chips in his knees.

Rerun’s mission is to rehabilitate, retrain, and find adoptive homes for Thoroughbred racehorses when their careers on the track are over, with a primary focus on New York-bred or raced horses. Rerun is the largest Thoroughbred rehab and retraining program in New York, annually assisting over 125 horses per year, and is the primary partner organization with the New York track program, Take The Lead.

Pazz recently had a full set of x-rays taken for their orthopedic surgeon to review. Their vet believes he is a candidate for surgery. Rerun will follow the medical advice after surgery to guide Pazz through the rehabilitation process.

In 6 Starts, New York bred Pazz hit the board once finishing third and earned $12,191. Pazz raced at Aqueduct, Belmont Park and Saratoga.
