Hidden Pond Farm Equine Rescue – New Hampshire

After the Finish Line awarded Hidden Pond Farm a grant for $2,500 to purchase square and round bales of locally grown alfalfa and grass hay. This will feed 13 OTTBs for one month.

They rescue horses in dire condition and help them gain back their health and strength to become the majestic horses they once were. They acquire horses from owner surrenders, auctions and direct purchases from dealers and occasionally from other rescues in New England. They currently care for 13 Off Track Thoroughbreds.

After the Finish Line receives a yearly grant from the Town Fair Tire Foundation to assist aftercare organizations in the New England states. Hay Grants are awarded in the month of October to help them fill their barns in preparation for the harsh winter weather, scarcity of (quality) hay, and rising hay prices.

Shifting Strides – Connecticut

After the Finish Line awarded Shifting Strides a grant for $1,200 to purchase 120 square bales of locally grown orchard grass. This will feed their 5 OTTBs for almost two months.

After the Finish Line receives a yearly grant from the Town Fair Tire Foundation to assist aftercare organizations in the New England states. Hay Grants are awarded in the month of October to help them fill their barns in preparation for the harsh winter weather, scarcity of (quality) hay, and rising hay prices.

Shifting Strides is focused on thoroughbred rehabilitation, retraining, and rehoming. Their mission is to advance the welfare of off-the-track thoroughbreds through rehabilitation, compassionate training, and thoughtful placement into long-term homes, ensuring that every horse receives the care, horsemanship, and opportunity they deserve. They currently care for 5 OTTBs and primarily get their horses from Charles Town Racetrack and Penn National.

Terry’s Equine Foundation – New Hampshire

After the Finish Line awarded Terry’s Equine Foundation a grant for $1,300 to purchase approximately 120 bales of orchard and timothy hay. This grant will feed their two Off Track Thoroughbreds for two months.

After the Finish Line receives a yearly grant from the Town Fair Tire Foundation to assist aftercare organizations in the New England states. Hay Grants are awarded in the month of October to help them fill their barns in preparation for the harsh winter weather, scarcity of (quality) hay, and rising hay prices.

They provide a safe, responsible pathway for horses whose owners can no longer care for them. Terry’s Equine Foundation works with owners to rehome their horses while prioritizing their health, training, and long-term wellbeing. They intervene before horses enter the auction pipeline and ensure they can find a safe, and permanent home.

After the Finish Line awarded NEER North a grant for $2,500 to purchase approximately 225 square bales of timothy grass mix that weighs between 40-50 pounds.

After the Finish Line receives a yearly grant from the Town Fair Tire Foundation to assist aftercare organizations in the New England states. Hay Grants are awarded in the month of October to help them fill their barns in preparation for the harsh winter weather, scarcity of (quality) hay, and rising hay prices.

At NEER North, their mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home horses, donkeys, and mules in crisis throughout New England (primarily MA and NH). They work closely with horse owners, other rescue organizations, and the community to promote education about equine abuse, and ensure that every rescued animal can be adopted into a loving home. NEER North currently cares for five OTTB’s.

PHOTOGRAPHERS and VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

After the Finish Line will be in Lexington the week leading up to Breeders' Cup and we will be attending the races. We will paint Moneighs at the stallion farms Sunday, October 25 - Thursday, October 29.

ReRun Thoroughbred Adoption – New York

After the Finish Line awarded ReRun Thoroughbred Adoption a grant for $2,500 to purchase hay for their Off Track Thoroughbreds. Hay grants help aftercare organizations fill their barns in preparation for the harsh winter weather.

Founded in 1998, ReRun is one of the oldest Thoroughbred retraining and adoption charities in the nation. They assist more than 125 Thoroughbreds each year. Low adoption fees along with accurate and fair representation of their horses are hallmarks of their program. With Off Track Thoroughbreds arriving weekly, make sure you have an approved application on file to adopt. Their mission is to rehabilitate, retrain, and adopt Thoroughbreds for second careers.

With a continued presence in New York since 2002, ReRun focuses most of their efforts in helping both the thoroughbredsand horsemen of the state offering rehab, retraining and retirement options for the horses. Based on the number of horses accepted into the program and placed in second careers, Rerun is now the largest Thoroughbred rehab and adoption program in New York and the northeast operating out of a premier facility.

Hope For Horses – Virginia

After the Finish Line awarded Hope For Horses a grant for $2,500 to purchase 25 round bales of mixed grass hay that weigh between 600-800 pounds. The Governor of Virginia recently declared a State of Emergency for a hay shortage for the winter season.

After the Finish Line awards Hay Grants in the month of October to help aftercare organizations fill their barns in preparation for the harsh winter weather, scarcity of (quality) hay, and rising hay prices.

"From racetrack to renewed purpose—giving horses and humans a brighter future." Hope For Horses is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and re-training horses, with a emphasis on Off Track Thoroughbreds. They help horses transition to fulfilling second careers while promoting the humane treatment and responsible stewardship of all equines. By fostering meaningful connections between horses and humans, they create opportunities for healing, growth, and lifelong partnerships.

Hope For Horses receives horses from owner surrenders, other nonprofits, and animal control agencies. They currently have 14 Thoroughbreds in their care.

Rain, rain go away! Stay safe in the Nor'easter east coasters & Thoroughbreds. New York Racing Association (NYRA) has cancelled racing for the safety of the horses and jockeys. We just listed Belmont Park and Aqueduct saddle towels in our eBay store to support Off Track Thoroughbreds, https://ebay.com/str/afterthefinishline.

Both Belmont Park post position #5 have already sold. One buyer told us it was a tribute to 's Triple Crown win as he raced from post #5.

In the month of October, After the Finish Line offers Hay Grants to aftercare organizations throughout the United States. Organizations need to plan for the winter season and price increases when their horses need it most. With the ground covered with snow, the horses need to keep good weight to stay healthy and warm. Our grants help to (partially) fill the barn.

We receive a yearly grant from the Georgia B. Ridder Foundation. Funds from this grant will be awarded to purchase hay for California-bred OTTB's. We also receive a yearly grant from the Town Fair Tire Foundation that supports aftercare organizations in New England. We will use these grant funds to help aftercare organizations buy hay for their horses. And your donations will also help to feed the horses.

Seven organizations located Virginia, Texas, New York, New Hampshire (2), Massachusetts and Connecticut will receive Hay Grants.
