Belated thanks to Aurora, Big Chris, Connor, Kelly, Little Chris, Liza, Mickey, Miranda, Paul, Sandy, Sheryl, and William for bringing big sounds and big joy to our 108th Lewis School Jam! The 1939 townsfolk sure got it right when they reported in the local newspaper that “Music-making across generations builds powerful community bonds, bridging age gaps through shared rhythm and melody. These programs transform isolation into connection, uniting young and old through the universal language of song.” No notes. Check, check, and check.

Huge thanks to Suzanne, Belinda, Kim, Randy, and Eric for their splendid company on Thursday night. Even huger thanks to all of the 17-and-unders for their bravery, kindness, cooperation, jokes, and song. It was a real pleasure to make music with all of you under quivering pines and meteoric skies.

As it turns out, the kids are indeed alright.

Tonight’s the night!

Join us and our friends from Live Well Kalkaska Substance Free Coalition and Kalkaska County Sheriff's Office at Guernsey Lake State Campground for a community jam ‘round the fire from 7:30-9:00 PM. As was so in 2024 and 2025 (and in the 1937 archives!), there will once again “be stirring marches that will make the listener want to march. There will be a lovely serenade that will surely make you dream of warm climes and starry nights, and so on.” There will also be s’mores and stars and swimming. Maybe even mushrooms and elk horns.

More info attached here, along with photos of past years’ merriment.
