Celebrating Community Partnerships & Summer Blessings
As the weather gets warmer, life around Lighthouse Christian Home is moving outdoors! We’re enjoying farm activities, gardening, sunshine, and some wonderful opportunities made possible through the incredible nonprofits and organizations we are blessed to partner with in our community.
A few weeks ago, our residents had the opportunity to visit the Bigfork Art & Cultural Center for a second ceramics class. During their first visit, everyone painted a plate with their own unique design. This time, they painted personalized mugs! It has been such a joy watching the residents use them every day. They love having something they created themselves, complete with their names on them. Thank you for welcoming us back and providing such a fun and meaningful experience!
We would also like to give a huge shout-out to the Flathead Food Bank. They have been an incredible partner throughout the years, helping provide quality food for our home. Recently, they contacted us about an abundance of apples and pears available. We were able to pick up several cases, and our amazing cook, Marci, immediately got to work dehydrating fruit, making applesauce, and creating all kinds of delicious apple and pear recipes. Tomorrow’s Farm Care program will be an all-hands-on-deck fruit processing day, with residents helping wash, peel, chop, and prepare the harvest.
What a blessing it is to receive such wonderful food and to teach valuable life skills at the same time!
We’re also getting excited about our garden, which is growing beautifully. Over the next month, we should start seeing an abundance of fresh vegetables making their way from the garden to our kitchen table. Combined with our homegrown beef and pork, we’re looking forward to serving some amazing farm-to-table meals.
That brings us to an open invitation: if you ever need your day brightened, would like to learn more about Lighthouse, or simply want to spend time with some incredible people, we’d love to have you join us for lunch. You’ll enjoy a homemade meal, plenty of laughter, and more hugs than you can imagine!
Every day we are reminded how blessed we are by the generosity, kindness, and support of this community. Thank you to all of our nonprofit partners, volunteers, donors, and friends who come alongside us and help make Lighthouse Christian Home such a special place.
