Housing takes a community. 🏠 🩷

From emergency shelter and safe places to stay, to supportive services, rental assistance and affordable homeownership, nonprofits across the Flathead Valley are helping our neighbors move toward greater housing stability.

Some provide a safe place when home isn’t an option. Others help people stay housed. And organizations like Habitat Flathead help families take the next step toward affordable homeownership.

There’s a whole continuum between homelessness and homeownership—and we’re grateful for the organizations working at every point along the way.

Meet Jordan. 🩷🏠

Jordan grew up in a Habitat home in Whitefish with her mom, who is a paraplegic. That home gave their family more than a place to live. It gave Jordan a safe, beautiful place to grow up and her mom the stability of a home they could call their own.

Today, Jordan is sharing her story as we work to bring more Habitat homes to Whitefish.

Nonprofit Shout-Out! We’re proud to partner with Northwest Montana Community Land Trust, Inc. an organization working to keep homes affordable and help more people put down roots in our community. If you care about affordable housing, they’re worth supporting during the !

Together, we’ve built three Habitat homes on NWMTCLT land and are partnering on the Railroad homes in Columbia Falls. The NWMTCLT also has the first right to purchase the property back at an affordable price, making it possible for another qualified family to purchase the home.

That means these homes remain affordable in perpetuity. That’s a partnership with a lasting impact!

We’re grateful for partners like the NWMTCLT who are helping create more opportunities for families to stay and thrive in our community.

It’s been a big week at Habitat Flathead! We’re grateful to be part of Community Foundation alongside so many incredible local nonprofits, and even more grateful for the generosity our community has shown this week. 💙

Meanwhile, volunteers have been out on Railroad Street, helping build homes for local families. It’s pretty special to see the support happening in so many different ways. 🚂

And now, we’re turning our attention to Whitefish. Next week, the dirt starts moving. 🚧

A big thank-you to everyone who stopped by the Habitat Flathead booth at the Great Fish Community Challenge Launch Party! We loved talking with you about our GROUNDED IN WHITEFISH campaign and hearing what you thought about our home designs.

We asked visitors to vote for their favorite Habitat house design, and the two designs that received the most votes are the designs intended for the first set of homes in Whitefish!!

Meet the Whitefish Advisory Group behind Habitat's Grounded in Whitefish campaign, a group of local leaders, longtime community builders, and people who care deeply about the future of Whitefish.

Together with Habitat Flathead, they’re working toward a shared goal: 100 affordable homes in Whitefish over the next decade.

The need is real. But so is the community behind it.
