Introduction to Sourdough

Taught by Megan Spring, who maintains five different strains of sourdough starter, including one from Ireland and one from Alaska. Bring a pint jar to take home some starter. Learn its history and how to use it, including recipes and baked goods to sample. Cost is $25. Register below.

Sellers Wanted: Annual Community Yard Sale!

Want to sell your extra items without the hassle of hosting your own sale? Join us at Mountain Brook Community Center, 2353 Foothill Road on June 27, 2026 from 9-4!

We do all the advertising and put up the signs to bring in the shoppers—you just show up and sell.

Spaces are limited. PM me or comment below for details to reserve your table spot!

A 20’ x 20’ space is available for $20. A clearance fee of $20 will be returned upon full clean-up of your booth space.

You may also pay for a booth online, but the Vendor Agreement still has to be signed and submitted. Or you can mail it to Mountain Brook Homestead Foundation, 2353 Foothill Rd., Kalispell, MY 59901. Or you can stop by the Mountain Brook Community Center. Pop it in the book drop if the Library is not open.

Community Yard Sale

The annual Community Yard Sale will be held at the Mountain Brook Community Center on Saturday, June 27 from 9 am to 4 pm.

Interested in selling? A 20’ x 20’ space is available for $20. A clearance fee of $20 will be returned upon full clean-up of your booth space.

Interested in buying? Come and spend a few hours shopping and visiting with friends.

Spring Pie Social Saturday,

May 2 4:00 - 7:00 pm

Join an incredible, fun-filled community evening of chili and baked potato (regular, spicy Southwestern style and vegetarian chili options), live music by the Swan Range Jammers, and an entrancing slice of homemade pie.

The Spring Pie Social is Saturday, May 2nd, from 4 - 7-pm.

Pie bakers and donated pies are also needed. All volunteers are encouraged and welcome!

Intro to Natural Building and Strawbale Home Tour

Join Ty Hash for an overview of sustainable natural building systems including strawbale, cob, light-straw-clay, and hempcrete construction, as well as various natural plasters. After the talk at the Mountain Brook Community Center, we’ll head up to Ty’s home to tour a modern strawbale house, several lime and clay plasters, an earthen floor, and other sustainable practices that can be integrated into home construction. Cost is $10.

6th Annual Plant Sale

Now in its sixth year, this sale features beautiful vegetable, flower, and herb plants grown by local Mountain Brook gardeners, ready for planting in your own garden. Choose from a wide selection of varieties known to do well in our area, but come early for best selection!

Walk in the Woods with a Silviculturist

Learn about tree identification, ecology, and disturbance regimes (fire, insects, disease) from Doug Berglund, a retired silviculturist. Meet at Mountain Brook Community Center, 2353 Foothill Road and carpool south to state lands near Jewel Basin Road. There is no charge for this event but attendance is limited to 12 people.

Campus Clean-Up Day

10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Work together as a community to spruce up the grounds of your community center. We will be pruning trees and shrubs, removing dead branches to be chipped or burned, picking up a small amount of garbage, trimming edges, and other tacking other tasks. Bring gloves, pruners, tools, and lunch. Light refreshments will be provided. Help make the Mountain Brook campus sparkle! All are welcome!
