I am in Las Vegas for the next couple of days, hanging with some friends, but as I walked around last night, I noticed something that I have seen many times here, but has just been reignited in my heart. People selling girls for s*x on the streets. They are advertising them on business cards on every corner of the strip. Then I remembered that next week is the Super Bowl, the single largest Human Trafficking event in the world.
There are nearly 28 million people trapped in human trafficking. It’s enough to fill every seat of Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium every day for the next two years. -IJM
But most importantly, the state of Nevada’s legalization of S*x Work and change in legislation around the criminalization of both s*x buyers and sellers provides the most concern for increased trafficking incidents.
With over 620,000 cases of s*x trafficking, Nevada is the third-highest-ranking state in the U.S. for instances of Human Trafficking. At the daylong Nevada S*x Trafficking and Prostitution Summit held in February of 2023, Reno attorney Jason Guinasso shared, “We’ve put out a sign in the state of Nevada that anything goes here. And we put that sign up and we put neon lights on it and said ‘Come here,’ but I think it’s time to turn those lights off and express to those on the outside that we’re no longer going to nurture that kind of economy here, an economy where there’s a lot of complicit folks.”
praying this week against Human Trafficking, asking for conviction, not just legal conviction, but the conviction of the Holy Spirit on peoples hearts to care and love women, and not use and buy them
