Flathead Shelter Friends Our primary purpose is to improve the quality of life for shelter animals, increase pet adoption, and to promote responsible pet ownership.

Our mission is to raise funds to help the Flathead County Animal Shelter to provide better housing and care for cats and dogs while they await their loving forever homes. Our group is comprised of people who VOLUNTEER their time & energy, spurred on by the love of animals and our community. We always have ongoing projects that involve improvement of the actual shelter facility, such as adding and

updating kennels for cats and dogs, and remodeling and sprucing up old existing areas of the Shelter. We also strive to keep equipment in good repair and replace it as needed. There is always a project that needs our help

Meet Aileen, a beautiful 1-year-old Mastiff mix with a tender heart, a worried little brain, and so much potential tucked inside that big-dog body.

Aileen is fearful with new people and unfamiliar environments, so she will need a patient adopter with large breed experience who understands that confidence is built slowly, not forced. She is not the kind of dog who will walk into a new place and instantly decide everyone is her bestie. She needs time, consistency, and someone willing to earn her trust at her pace.

With the right person, Aileen has the potential to become an amazing companion. She needs a calm, steady home where she can learn that the world is safe, people can be kind, and she does not have to be brave all at once. Meet Dozer, a big, handsome boy with a sweet heart, a love for car rides, and a serious appreciation for snacks. Dozer is house-trained and already knows a thing or two about being part of a home, but he can be nervous around new people, new places, and unfamiliar things. He will need a patient family willing to give him time, reassurance, and space to settle in at his own pace.

Dozer loves other dogs and has lived well with a cat, so that he may do well in a home with furry friends. He does have a favorite toy that he is not always excited to share, so his future family should understand that he may need some guidance and management around prized possessions. Because Dozer is a large boy, he may not be the best fit for tiny children who could accidentally get bumped by all that adorable dog mass.

With patience, consistency, and a treat or two, Dozer has the potential to be a wonderful companion. He is looking for someone who will help him feel safe, enjoy the ride, and love him for the big, food-loving sweetheart he is.

Pepper is a four-year-old bundle of joy with a personality that's equal parts goofball, professional heart-melter, and full-time best friend.

This fun-loving mixed breed lives for playtime. She has that contagious, happy energy that makes everything feel a little lighter just by being around her.

Pepper is also an incredibly people-oriented girl who loves hard and bonds deeply. Because of that, we've learned that she struggles with significant separation anxiety and does not enjoy being left alone. She will need a patient, understanding adopter who is willing to help her feel safe, build confidence, and work through alone-time routines at her pace. A home where someone is around often, or where her people are committed to helping her through this with consistency and compassion, would be ideal.

Beyond the silliness and snack negotiations, Pepper is a sweet, affectionate girl who wants nothing more than to be part of someone's life. She'd thrive with a person or family who can match her playful spirit, support her emotional needs, and, let's be honest, keep a treat jar stocked.
