Making a difference in the lives of abused and neglected children in Flathead County, MT.

Abused and neglected children often slip through the cracks of the overburdened social welfare system. Trained CASA volunteers can step in to make a difference. CASA is the only volunteer organization that empowers everyday citizens as appointed members of the court. (Locally, CASA volunteers serve as the child’s guardian ad litem, or GAL). Appointed by judges, CASA volunteers typically handle jus

t one or two cases at a time and commit to staying on that case until the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. CASA volunteers provide a constant, stable, person for the child to connect to in a situation where frequent change is often the norm. We do NOT handle family law cases or matters involved with custodial disputes.

Great Fish is officially underway! 🐟

For the next month, our community has an incredible opportunity to come together and support the local organizations doing important work throughout the Flathead Valley.

For CASA for Kids, your support helps us recruit, train, and support the dedicated volunteers who advocate for children experiencing abuse and neglect in our community.

A CASA volunteer can be a consistent voice for a child during an incredibly uncertain time—making sure their needs are heard and their best interests remain at the center of every decision.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has already chosen CASA as part of their Great Fish giving this year. Thank you for believing in this work and in the children we serve.

There’s still plenty of time to join us! Great Fish continues through September 11.

To us, it means a community that shows up for one another. It means neighbors supporting neighbors, local organizations working together, and investing in a stronger future for the Flathead Valley.

We’re only a few days into the Great Fish Community Challenge, and we’re already so grateful for everyone who has chosen to support CASA for Kids. Every gift—big or small—is a reminder that our community believes children deserve to have someone in their corner.

A quick update from CASA! 💙

Due to the current wildfire smoke and poor air quality in the Flathead Valley, we’ve made the difficult decision not to attend tonight’s Great Fish Community Challenge Launch Party at Glacier Bank Park.

This was not an easy decision, and we’re so appreciative of the understanding and support of our community and the Whitefish Community Foundation as we prioritize the health and well-being of our staff and volunteers.

While we’re disappointed to miss tonight’s celebration, we’re still incredibly excited to kick off the Great Fish Community Challenge! There will be plenty of opportunities to connect with CASA and support our mission between now and September 11.

We are humbled and incredibly honored to have received a very generous memorial donation today in honor of Donna Mast.

It was a privilege to meet with her friend Patti Reid and learn more about Donna's heart for children. Through this remarkable gift, her legacy of caring for young people will continue to make a difference in the lives of children served by CASA for Kids.

We are profoundly grateful for this meaningful tribute. Donna's legacy will continue to change lives for years to come. 💙

Is CASA the same as foster care?

It's a common misconception—but the answer is no.

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is a volunteer advocacy program. CASA volunteers don't provide foster care or become foster parents. Instead, they're appointed by a judge to be a consistent voice for a child's best interests while that child is navigating the court system.

One of the things we love most about the Great Fish Community Challenge is that it reminds us we're not in this work alone.

Each of these incredible organizations serves children and families in a unique way, but we're all working toward the same goal: ensuring every child in our community has the opportunity to be safe, supported, and successful.

Calling all knitters, crocheters, and crafters!

The amazing ladies of The Knit Wits at The Springs Assisted Living have once again turned generosity into something beautiful.

After receiving a large donation of like-new yarn, they're hosting a Yarn Sale with skeins available for just $1 each—and every purchase helps continue a tradition of giving back.

Over the years, The Knit Wits have raised more than $17,000 in support of CASA for Kids. 💙 Their talent, kindness, and dedication have helped make a difference in the lives of children in our community.

What’s the difference between a CASA volunteer and a social worker?

It’s one of the questions we hear most often.

Both are deeply committed to helping children, but they serve very different roles. Social workers often manage large caseloads and coordinate services for children and families. CASA volunteers have one singular focus: advocating for the best interests of one child throughout their court case.

In this video, hear from CASA’s first Executive Director, Carol Lee, as she explains what makes a CASA advocate unique and why having one consistent, dedicated voice can make such a meaningful difference in a child’s life. 💙
